Rejecting Anonymous Questions June 28, 2006 8:08 PM   Subscribe

Are anonymous posters to AskMe notified if their question is rejected? (I did a search but didn't see the answer to this question.)

I don't think so, no.

No. And sometimes if you email about it after waiting awhile, you don't get a response.

These things tend to come in waves, where I'll remember to check the queue only once a day and if there are three repeats of the same basic question, I'll just post one, or if something is slightly illegal I'll skip it as well.

Email me and I'll let you know if it was passed on or just not seen, and if I do post it, I'll be sure to post it in the next wave of questions so no one can figure out a specific question is yours.

Matt, from your response it seems like the burden is on the anon asker to see if their question was posted or not. I would think they would be pretty antsy about it and email you again and again to see if it was posted.

Maybe we could have some kind of confirmation/declination notice to keep the anon queue in order.

I think that's a great idea, if it's not too much of a pain. Just a form e-mail if there's an e-mail addy in the poster's profile, and if it's being rejected because there was no reason for it to be posted anonymously, that could be noted so the user could go ahead and post it.

I'll e-mail you in a sec Matt - the reason I posted anon isn't so much because I'm embarrassed, I just don't want my question permanently tied to my name if people I know IRL check my profile. Maybe I should have just created a sock puppet, I dunno.

But if you created a sock puppet, wouldn't you have to pay the $5 reg fee again?
