OK, it was a link to a google search, but why delete??

Itchy trigger finger? I liked that post, and it seems like everyone else who posted did too -- no-one seemed to be snarking or complaining or asking for it to go. Sure, it's a link to a Google search, but an interesting one I hadn't thought of before. It was headed for a fun interweb memories thread... but then it was tragically taken from us. As an official Metafilter King, I would urge you to reconsider.

Personally, I thought that it should have been deleted for being a word for word post from the Digg posting. Not a precedent we should start.

It was the word for word Digg part that got me, in addition to a few IMs complaining about it and a few flags. The post, in total, was a Google search and a [soon to be] dead Geocities page. There are an assload of Google searches that will let you look at interesting groups of stuff in the search results, but they're really sort of lame MetaFilter posts.

I learned C using ed and a 2400 baud modem. Ugg. Only an idiot would use either if anything else were available.
