OK, it was a link to a google search, but why delete?? September 14, 2006 1:15 PM Subscribe
Itchy trigger finger? I liked that post, and it seems like everyone else who posted did too -- no-one seemed to be snarking or complaining or asking for it to go. Sure, it's a link to a Google search, but an interesting one I hadn't thought of before. It was headed for a fun interweb memories thread... but then it was tragically taken from us. As an official Metafilter King, I would urge you to reconsider.
I liked that post. I was looking forward to all the crazy crap that people were going to be digging up. I found this.

It was the word for word Digg part that got me, in addition to a few IMs complaining about it and a few flags. The post, in total, was a Google search and a [soon to be] dead Geocities page. There are an assload of Google searches that will let you look at interesting groups of stuff in the search results, but they're really sort of lame MetaFilter posts.

Here's the entire evolutionary process of the post, encapsulated in a single comment and response composing all of sixty seconds in a stillborn thread in the main digg feed. It should have never seen the light of the blue.

It should have stayed on Digg. Come on. A link to a google search? Try harder.

In a week, the Digg article and the deleted MeFi post will be hits one and two for a Google search for "WELCOME TO MY WEB PAGE".

timeistight - that's the puppet cabal you're thinking of. The true cabal lives everywhere. Everywhere there is fear & suspicion; everywhere that a great post goes uncommented; everywhere that someone flags it, but fails to move on; deep in the heart of every pony that never lives eat its first bundle of hay, there you will find the Cabal...

I learned C using ed and a 2400 baud modem. Ugg. Only an idiot would use either if anything else were available.

"Move a motion": Hm. Don't you either "move" or "motion" but not "move a motion"? Or is it only within the cabal—which does not exist—that one "moves a motion"?
