Silent deletion of FPP, no reason given. December 2, 2007 6:15 PM   Subscribe

What the hell? Silent deletion of my FPP! I know that political correctness is the force that moves Metafilter, but come ON here people! The post was a short one, centered on this story: http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,314564,00.html and apparently that's a story that Metafilter is not ready to handle at this point in time.

Deletions are only "silent" in that we remove them from the front page. It's still here, with reasons given.

This seems to be a stunning example of the world gone awry.

It wasn't silent. Look at the page:

This post was deleted for the following reason: single link newsfilter post about a likely-to-be-hot-button topic is not a great post for metafilter. If you have your own blog, this is a good place to put this. -- jessamyn

You like Ron Paul and you're creepy and weird.

Sukiari, you linked to a google news search. Did you even read the guidelines for what makes a good metafilter post?

It was no worse than a thousand other posts that are made about hot button issues on this site. I'm glad that you were so prompt with your removal, it really shows you care about the quality of FPPs.

I am truly interested in this, my cousin is a lesbian and her partner is thinking about insemination. With this development it seems likely that people who don't want a dickin' to conceive will have a hell of a time figuring out how to get sperm.

Please close this thread, as it is a recipe for a needless—at least, probably needless—pile-on. The flag would be "deletion complaint," and I'd move on afterward.

My deletions aren't silent, by the way. I have my Preferences set so that I hear Nelson saying "Ha-Ha" every time jessamyn deep sixes me.

This is promising.

If only you could just lock up all the people why you think are creepy, weird, and like Ron Paul. Maybe gas them.

Sukiari - you still haven't talked about the posting guidelines, have you read them?

Yeah, kill a post, and remove the discussion. We don't want people taking their issues to Metatalk, do we?

People are really showing the color of their stripes today.

I don't know where you're getting the "silent" thing. You linked to a google news dump and started opinionating—in short, a textbook awful mefi post—after making a great big goddam fuss in another thread in the last day or so, something you've got a history of doing and for which you actually got banned at one point previously.

I feel like you're not really getting the site, and I have zero interest in seeing you start a big fight here as a coda.
