recently.mefi?
May I have a list of recent Also On urls for everything? I enjoy the recent flickr posts page and would like to see deviant art from mefites.
We don't have an aggregated page of deviantART like we do for Flickr, but we have a prototype of a Social Explorer where you can find links to people's profiles by service. posted by pb at 7:30 AM on April 15 [2 favorites]
The Social Explorer will also show you which people on the returned list are your contacts by shading them in grey. posted by jessamyn at 7:43 AM on April 15
If only I had some way to tell if we had discussed Also On recently. posted by Plutor at 7:49 AM on April 15
I'm actually grateful to this thread, b/c without it I'd never have noticed the Social Explorer thingy. posted by leesh at 7:51 AM on April 15
Social Explorer is the bomb! The bomb that will bring us together. posted by Kattullus at 8:03 AM on April 15
mathowie: You understand why I've called you here...
Steven C Den Beste: (stepping from the shadows) I can make a few guesses.

jonmc: So then this cat has been...
dios: ... yes. declawed.

shmegegge: hey, guys, what's going on in h-
(shmegegge is shot in the head)

languagehat: this isn't what I think it is... is it?
Blazecock Pileon: I don't know. Do you think it's... a CIRCUMCISION?!

The total numbers on the Social Explorer thingy seem incredibly low - only 639 folk who've added del.icio.us to their Also On bit, only 1296 on Flickr. Does hardly anyone bother to fill out their profile pages? posted by jack_mo at 9:10 AM on April 15
Does hardly anyone bother to fill out their profile pages?
Remember that the upper bound for active users is 13k, so 10% isn't bad really, considering that not everyone uses Flickr.
(Also there is the fact that sockpuppets don't fill out their profiles.) posted by smackfu at 9:29 AM on April 15
The Social Explorer will also show you which people on the returned list are your contacts by shading them in grey.
Maybe they should be at the top? Because some of those lists are really long. Finding your shared contacts on Flickr is a bit of a trial. posted by smackfu at 9:34 AM on April 15
Is the kabal anything like the cabal? Except for the not existing part, of course. posted by deborah at 9:45 AM on April 15
I think it is the cabal. Unless I'm so out of the circle I didn't know it is the kabal.
Are there two competing secret societies?
Do cabal members have secret lapel pins?

one time on a crowded subway i was doing a little social exploring and this one very anti-social woman hit me with an umbrella. posted by quonsar at 9:50 AM on April 15 [1 favorite]
I'm sick and tired of this hugging shit. I'm making a Greasemonkey script to remove that note. posted by Plutor at 9:58 AM on April 15
I think it's a typo, but the reference is to the many users in Kabul posted by selton at 9:58 AM on April 15
Plutor, I will save my BIG HUG for you for when I see you next week. You will wish all you got was cyberhugging. posted by jessamyn at 10:02 AM on April 15

In my life, why do I give valuable time to people who don't care if I live or die? Why do I smile at people who I'd much rather kick in the eye? [more inside]

Just curious...how come there's just about every social/blog site listed, except Blogger? posted by iamkimiam at 8:37 PM on April 15
How do you find the Social Explorer? I just found it by searching MetaTalk for "Social Explorer" where it was mentioned in an old post. How would you navigate to it from this page, though? posted by Locative at 9:06 PM on April 15
Locative, the Social Explorer is more of an experiment than an official feature right now. You could have found it in that earlier thread, or in the MeFi Shadowy Back Alleys page on the wiki. But there's no link to it from the header or footer here. posted by pb at 10:08 PM on April 15
It has an electronic lock and only cabal members know the code. posted by Cranberry at 11:37 PM on April 15
Ah, thanks pb. I thought it was something like that. posted by Locative at 1:30 AM on April 16
