Can we have a countdown timer for MeFi posts like we do for AskMe posts? How about for MetaTalk?

We could add it for sake of consistency, but though I don't mind (I think it's useful) it on people maxing out their Ask MeFi posts, I don't know if it sets the right tone for MeFi or MetaTalk (especially) to kind of help people post as much as physically possible.

Wouldn't posting as much as physically possible involve the use of a rolling series of sockpuppets, such that it was possible to post continuously?

How often *can* one post to MeFi and MetaTalk? I didn't know there were limits?

Um, "I didn't know there were limits."

Why don't you ask netbros how he manages it? (Not a call-out, just impossible not to notice his posting frequency has ramped up in the last month or so.)

Every 24 hours and every 4 days, respectively.

To address the concerns of the post, I think the MeFi limit is short enough that a reminder isn't necessary. One a day, easy. As for MeTa, well...Oh, you know, I was wrong in the last comment. I think it's a week now. Even still, it's bad news bears to keep folks too up to date on what they can and cannot do in MeTa. Best to just feel your way, like a blind man in a barroom.

I hear 'cause of you, thanks!

What about the ability to search our favorites by user name?

^And while we're at it, what about trolling? What's the statute of limitations on campaigning for your own pony in other people's MeTa threads? A few hours?

And can we get a queue for MetaTalk posts that we want to make?
And a twitter stream with a countdown?
And could the site email me when it's time to make a callout?
Or maybe an SMS?
Could we make a deal with ThinkGeek for a USB powered klaxon?
How about a one-click option for signing up for a new sockpuppet, and simultaneously posting an AskMe and MeTa post?
Can I ban someone on my birthday?
Are you still reading this?

Conscious effort to participate for a change, rather than just lurk. I've received a great deal of fun, education, and advice from MeFi over the years. Time to step up.

Time to step up.

Step up the quality while you're at it, too.

*goes back to lurking*

Wow, I'm really sorry that my comment gave WalterMitty occasion to snot at you, netbros. Not my intent. I don't share his sentiment, nor his tacky way of expressing it after you said something that seemed self-aware, generous, and community-minded. Stay classy (and lurky), WalterMitty.

Yeah, why don't you step up my butt!

We're leaving together,
But still it's farewell
And maybe we'll come back,
To earth, who can tell?
I guess there is no one to blame
We're leaving ground
Will things ever be the same again?

It's the final countdown!...

Welcome to the internets.

Yeah, why don't you step up my butt!

Stayin' classy together, WalterMitty and dirigibleman.

Everyone who puts up a post of dubious quality leaves themselves open for some measure of ridicule, not least on MetaTalk. I give props when it's due - netbros' post today, for example, was excellent, leagues better than the previous two.

That is the internets. The internets is everything you want it to be, as well as a hell lot of what you don't. Make of that what you will, mmkay?

It's my understanding that "Step Up My Butt" is one of the minigames in Wii Fit.

It wasn't supposed to be classy, it was supposed to be funny, Jeez.

I want to be your butt comedian.
