Impromptu Melbourne boozeup?
I'm gonna have a couple of hours free after work in Melbourne this Wednesday, if anybody feels like a beer or two. If not, then I can get my fill of Ethiopian food, because we've got bugger all of that in Sydney. So, either way, I'm easy.
I'll be in the CBD, close to Lygon & Brunswick Streets, near the Parliament building, if anybody's in that area.

I'll be up for that. I work on Spring St, so close enough. Being in close to the start of this, I'll suggest the Elms as a meetup point, because it'll annoy Wilful, but may encourage Russm (and also cos I'm a bit of a regular there).
I'm quite happy to be over-ruled too, but it's a starter...

OK, to avoid the endless back-and-forth that characterises Sydney meetups, I'll go with this Elms place. Say, 6pm Wednesday onwards. My flight's booked for 9:30 or so, but can be pushed back if needed, though I don't like staying up too late on a school night.

The Townie?!?? In Newtown?!?? That's the most appallingly craptactular pub in the entire city, and only ever managed to have any kind of clientele whatsoever because the Oxford shot itself in the foot by turning all ethno-kitschy in its Zanzibar incarnation, and because tourists are too shit-thick to find their way to the Courty.

The Elms is a dingy old man pub. You know, get in touch with your working class roots. Except pompom's a private school educated rugby fan, with a distant english accent... There are so many better places just nearby. Why not Troika?
