Ctrl-shift-t collision in Firefox.

If I hit ctrl-shift-T to unclose a tab in Firefox while I'm on a MeFi page, it transports me to the text-box. Now I've completely lost my place wherever I was reading, and I have some extraneous <em> tags. Similarly, if I go to italicize my text using the keyboard shortcut, I end up opening the last tab I closed. Since more folks use Firefox than MeFi, is it possible to change MeFi's behavior?

Yeah, it was control-shift-t back in 2001 or so and worked great for keyboard short cuts on a PC before the invention of browser tabs.

What does control-shift-i do on a PC version of firefox while you are in a mefi browser window? I seem to recall we never used the more obvious key combo because there was a clash there.

Slight tingling sensation. 3.0.1, XP SP2

Other fun MeFi shortcuts: ',' and '.' will take you up and down the front pages and individual threads by post and comment, respectively

<nothingtoseehere>It sends a copy of your browser history and all your cookies* to the Trilateral Commission.

*Except pecan sandies. The Trilateral Commission hates pecan sandies.I know this because my grandmother was a pecan sandie before they had her killed in '57.

Uh, ahem. Ctrl-Shift-I does nothing in my copy of Firefox 3.

CTRL-SHIFT-W!

Which reminds me back in the 90s when I first got on the internet and the only place I could think to hang out were Star Wars chat rooms. AOL had one I think. In addition to the usual lame a/s/l chatter, occasionally we'd get visits from Star Trek fans. Once I went "If you like Star Trek press NCC-1701!!!" and a few people would. Losers. And then I'd type "If you like Star Trek press CTRL ALT DELETE repetedly!!!!" And it would work. Hilarious times, 1996.

Thing is, I liked Star Trek too. I just couldn't think of anything better to do.

Crtl-shft-^ and all of a sudden I'm sitting here in a blue dress, holding a stick of butter and wearing some kind of silent-cone-shaped-headpiece.

A long long time ago, I used to run a dialup BBS. Actually sort of a series of them. At one point I took the [Hit Any Key] prompt that paused between display pages and set it to "Hit CTRL_ALT_DEL to Continue..."

I guarantee that about one in every four people who dialed my little BBS computer suddenly got disconnected the first time that prompt came up.

And just about every "look at this cool voice-control software for your computer" presentation had somebody in the audience going "Format C, yes!"

*sigh*
