Thanks MeFi for helping me move!

I asked a question on the green a few weeks ago, here. Long story short, I DID take the job and I AM moving and I have NO IDEA WTF I AM DOING, but I'm excited and I know everything will be fine. Just wanted to generally say thanks to you folks for being helpful and taking some of the scare out of my big couple-thousand-mile move.

If any of you folks ever pass through Fort Walton Beach, FL and want to hit up the fishing pier...or whatever it is people do there...let me know!

Apparently what people in Fort Walton Beach do is get raped. Happily, they rarely get their stuff set on fire.

Good to know that in 2003 there were 16 rapes there. That's what I call a significant figure. What?

the town I'm in now is one of those cities where they misreport rape as battery, or wanton endangerment, or whatever, so that you don't have to report it as rape. Apparently that's a common practice. Comforting, no?

I'll be there officially by the end of the first week of November, but won't actually be *moving* until early December. Huzzah!

Good luck! Have fun! Make sure you let those doggies have lots of smelling time along the way. It slows long moves down, but when we moved from the west to the east coast (with a stopover in Texas) with the dog, letting him out of the car (double-leashed, cause I was a little hysterical at the thought of losing him along the way) to smell his way around was so much fun because he was *so* excited to be smelling a new place.
