I'd like "Related FPPs" to be generated and added to the bottom of an FPP, like those currently offered in AskMeFi posts. It would uncover the strata of cool FPPs already on MeFi in a way that the "tags" function or other searches may not touch. Serendipity ensues!

(Also, it could lead to some hilarious, milk-spurting-out-the-nose results.)

HTH.

Despite your H's, I don't think TH's because Ask has both (1) tags, and (2) related questions, and they are different features. Thus, Ask:Tags :: MetaFilter:Tags, and the original blank remains unfilled.

Other MetaFilters who bought the underlying premise embedded in this FPP also bought:
  • The Glass Castle: A Memoir by Jeannette Walls
  • Loving Frank by Nancy Horan
  • Suite Francaise by Irene Nemirovsky

I'd like this. Actually, if pressed I'd like a number of footer widgets that would do different things that people could decide to add or not add to some special widget area. These include

- Related threads
- 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 years ago this day on MetaFilter
- other threads posted by this user
- other threads with similar comment patterns
- "likely mod responses to this thread" [based on other mod responses to similar threads]
- most favorited comments in similar threads
- user generated flow charts to decide how to respond to this thread based on related threads
- google images search on this thread's tags for those who miss the image tag
- email me this thread in a few days when I have time to read it, with all the links ready for clicking by me
- Send this thread to Digg, Reddit, MetaTalk

I am kidding about that last one.

I think autogenerating it would be too much, because some topics have too many posts on them, and others are related but not in a way keywords would properly pick up. I just think since people already do the "previously" thing, that the process could somehow be semi-automatic. Bddthtdhtdh! Bddtdhtdhtdh!

I just google-searched for images related to TOMORROW'S HOLIDAY, and nothing super-awesome came up. It looks like Google isn't anywhere close to a substitute for a crowd of excitable metafiltrians.

The greatest day of the whole year, jessamyn! I'm only using lowercase letters right now because I want to save the alternative for tomorrow! I'm already planning to make salmon for toast, and to get a crockety bloat ready. Oh my goodness, oh my goodness, just six and half hours!

I think I'm taking tomorrow off, MeFi-wise. It'll be really LOUD in here, Jess.

I got my first all-caps email from my dad a few days ago. I think I'll just assume he's an early celebrator then, instead of batshit insane. Thanks guys!

he was probably eating salmon on toast at the time and was overwhelmed by the spirit

oh my goodness oh my goodness
