NYC: Post-turkey meatspace gathering.

I'm in town next weekend for Thanksgiving. Who wants to hang out, and where?

Oh! there's a 95% chance I'm coming up for Thanksgiving too! I was gonna leave the next day, but I will stick around if there's a meetup.

How about Friday late afternoon/early evening?

I hear Kurve is nice.

Too cold for a picnic this time. I'm thinking restaurant or bar where the background music isn't so low you have to shout yourself hoarse.

Why yes, I *did* just come from a lousy networking mixer last night, how could you tell?

BENEDICT!

We could return to the site of my first meetup (The Magician).

Some place with a good set-up for mingling would be great.

I'll be over in NYC last ten days of February if any of the old schoolers want to mark their diaries. Apart from that, I've nothing worthwhile to contribute to this.

I'll be around until Sunday, so could be convinced. LES is not preferred due to my location on the 2/3. West-ish or around Union Square would be better. Revival?

I'll be in town Thurs-Sat, but leaving early on Sunday.

Which is to say that Friday at Revival is fine with me.

I could do Revival. I could do Friday. What do folks say, 7 or 8 til question marks?
posted by Eideteker at 3:14 PM on November 20, 2008

Revival, Friday at 7pm would be perfect for me. After Black Friday, I'll need a drink and revival's just afew blocks from my job.

Sounds like the perfect accent to a four-day weekend. It'll be good to see folks.

Friday at Revival at 7, sounds good.

Ok, Revival, Friday @ 7pm.

Irving Place seems to be a popular area for meetups lately!

I will be there.

I will try.

Here's a festive Sarah Palin turkey video to get you all in the mood.
posted by CunningLinguist at 9:31 AM on November 21, 2008

In the mood for what? For seeing the same stupid liberal schadenfreude video that's been posted in a thousand places but has nothing to do with my visit?

I hope you can make it, CL, but I hope we can talk about something other than politics now that the election is over.

Count me in. Say, does anyone remember the guy who brought his dog to Revival last time? That dog rules. I hope he comes.

If I'm not too wiped out from dealing with the parade (I help inflate the balloons the day before and then am in the parade, and last year I was out of it until Sunday) then I'll try to be there. It's been way too long since I've been to a meetup.

I seem to remember him somehow being tangentially related to MetaFilter via a sister site or some such, but I'm not too sure; when I'm with a dog I tend not to notice the humans.

I may turn up. Usually by that time on Thanksgiving weekend I'm sick of sitting around at my dad's house doing nothing.

And I only notice humans who, like me, ignore other humans in favor of canines.

Also, I think Metafilter should charge a small commission fee for all the business we bring to Revival.

We have theatre tickets that night at 8, but the show is only an hour and 15 minutes, so we'll be catching up with y'all wherever you are around 9:30 or 10.

Taking a pass. See you guys at the next one.

Aw, crap! I just remembered about this. :(
posted by youcancallmeal at 6:46 PM on November 28, 2008

Thanks to everyone who came out! We had a good turnout, 50% people I've seen before and the other half I got to meet for the first time. I got to talk to everyone but Optimus due to some random spatiotemporal anomaly that kept us from being at the same table at the same time.

Thanks, guys, I really needed that!

YCCMA, I take your absence as a personal affront. You are someone who clearly knows how to bring the party, yet you failed to bring it. I am putty INFINITY FROWNYFACES ON YOUR PERMANENT RECORD! :-( :-( :-( :-( :-( :-( ... tbc in a private mefimail.

I momentarily rendered jonmc speechless (with a story about Drew Barrymore), which I'm assuming I should consider a personal victory.

You assume correct, EmpressCallipygos.

Future Revival-goers will marvel at my cutout snowflake skill. I should try to turn that into some sort of profitable hobby.

Yes, but only momentarily, and then asked the question on everybody's mind, which was never answered.

Oh, for the last friggin' time! Every one of those sea lions was returned unharmed, it was only one bullet, not four, and the age of consent is lower in Pago Pago anyway!

I'm not the one on trial, here!

Actually, jonmc you're the first to ever have asked that question. Everyone else always asks me about Pig Girl instead.
