Bug report (?) + Follow-up January 30, 2009 3:30 PM Subscribe
Is archiving a thread supposed to put the kibosh on Recent Comments? Also, a follow-up.
After I submitted my Cartoon Network mega-post, folks in the comments turned up many, many more types of clips and shorts that I had overlooked. So for completeness (completeness's?) sake I resolved to find the rest of these and add them to the post before it closed.
So I collected a few over time, and got most of the rest in the hour or so before the thread was archived (yay, deadlines). I figured that it was worth posting even after so long because the comment would get circulated to everyone who had commented in or favorited the post.
OR SO I THOUGHT. For some reason the new comment wasn't showing up in my Recent Comments page. I'm guessing it's due to either the archival process or the site's ongoing server issues, but it would be nice to know exactly what the nature of the problem is, for future reference. I do know that delayed follow-up comments like homunculus' continue to show up, so perhaps this is a fresh problem.
(Also, as long as I'm here, here's my followup comment listing the 25 new clips that I found.)

Looks like it was a timing issue related to being so close to the thread closing date. I adjusted the time in RA and you should be seeing your latest comment in Recent Activity now.

I have a weird thing with the "My Favorites" tab under "Recent Activity." AskMe posts don't stick the way Metafilter and Metatalk posts do. Right now there are no AskMe posts showing up under "My Favorites" for me, despite that I've favorited a lot of AskMes. The most recent comment in the top Metafilter post listed was more than 12 hours ago, whereas if I look at the last AskMe I favorited (by clicking on "Favorites" from the main page), people were commenting on it just this morning.
I've noticed this for a while. At first it just seemed like the AskMes were getting dropped from the page quicker. But now it seems like they're not showing up at all.

Yep, AskMes weren't showing up at all. It should be working now.
