Does anyone know why my post...

"YayDir Blog Directory down until further notice. Not that anyone would notice (except me apparently)."

was deleted. Thanks!!!

I don't want metafilter to be the place you report temporary outages of websites.

OK. But I don't think it's temporary and it seemed to be a very popular resource amongst the weblogging community considering that it was one of a handful of portals.

I wouldn't want to see a post about weblogs.com going down either, and that's the biggest portal out there. Or Blogger, or any other service unless there were some real news, and it wasn't just a "hey foo.com is gone" post.

That's what this other site is for, isn't it? Pretty much?

YayDir was not a company. It was a weblog directory and update monitor. You could add your own weblog and maintain a list of favorites. The list would be updated when the blogs were changed. Very similar to BlogTracker, Weblogs.com, BlogTrack and Blo.gs amongst others.
