The de-bearding--or post-bearding--is Saturday, 3pm-6pm at Hamilton's at Devon and Broadway. Me & the Guy may or may not be there. Depends on the other circumstances of the weekend. posted by crush-onastick at 9:52 AM on April 9
Y'all Chicago bammas are some strange dudes. I'm going to hold a contest to see if my hand can lift a full size beer at our next meetup. posted by Potomac Avenue at 9:58 AM on April 9
Sigh. Somehow, I missed that thread, SpiffyRob. I was sure someone would have posted it, and looked through MetaTalk to make sure, and, well, poo. posted by ocherdraco at 10:00 AM on April 9
(and there is lots of Indian yogi penis lifting going on out there as well, though usually not for charity) posted by Burhanistan at 10:11 AM on April 9

yeah, I'm having trouble getting people to lift my penis for charity too. posted by drjimmy11 at 10:20 AM on April 9
I do too, but then I got to thinking. The helmet would really only be useful in case of catastrophic beard failure. In which case, if I were the kid, I would be less concerned about hitting my head on the floor than by the prospect of the detached beard being propelled rapidly towards my face. posted by exogenous at 11:17 AM on April 9 [2 favorites]
Thanks, everybody! And if you were disappointed by the lack of carnage and would like to exact your petty, resentful hate on The Beard, you've only got until 20:44:23 PDT to do so! Shave it, curl it, dye it, randomly apply an electric shaver to it: my beard is your beard if you're the highest bidder.
And Chicagoans, as crush pointed out, there's a farewell party this weekend at Hamilton's at Devon and Broadway at 3pm. We'll have free pizza and the final cut of the Beardumentary, plus lots and lots of hugs and liquor. Come on by!
Finally, thanks again to Meta folk: y'all have been huge supporters and I really, truly do appreciate what you've done for me and Off the Street Club. You're good people. Don't go changing. posted by eamondaly at 11:34 AM on April 9
I love that they made the kid wear a helmet.
I want to know what the kid was shouting through that megaphone.

A beard so manly it can raise a child? Kudos, sir! posted by zamboni at 12:37 PM on April 9
No worries, ocherdraco. No harm in calling more attention to it.
And, that said, I'm actually happy you made the post, because now I know about Saturday, and I'll try to go. (Huzzah for doing things as far north as possible!) posted by SpiffyRob at 1:07 PM on April 9
I love that this guy is lifting things with his beard, and that he's doing it for charity.
That said, do we really need an update here every time he lifts something? It's been posted on the blue, the grey, and in projects, and if I wanted to follow the project, I would have already subscribed to his RSS feed. posted by chrisamiller at 1:19 PM on April 9
