Anniversay meetups in the sidebar? June 22, 2009 8:00 PM   Subscribe

For obvious reasons the "upcoming meetups" sidebar is starting to look empty and lonely. May we have the confirmed meetups posted to the sidebar?

Yes, it would be a lot of links. This is but a glorious feature. Show it off, eh?

And it'll save a couple of clicks as threads get more traffic for final planning and communication.

As a bonus it might help motivate some folks to push their meetups from planning to confirmed to get on the sidebar.

Maybe the 10th anniversary meetups that were confirmed in the last three days just above upcoming meetups?

I would love to see the whole roster there. I don't think it would be too intrusive. Perhaps leave the date format off of the links to individual city/locations since they'll all be the same or similar.

Also spelling fail in title, sorry.

The Chicago Cabal votes against. We're going to have at least one meetup before the MeFanniversary.

I agree, Glorificus Placitum (or Meetupum) in the sidebar for all to see and revel in would be nice. Fill it up and spread the word!

There is no Chicago Cabal!

I vote for:
> Jul 17 - 15 tenth meetups
> Jul 18 - 31 tenth meetups
> Jul 19 - 7 tenth meetups
And each arrow is clickable:
> Jul 17 - 15 tenth meetups
v Jul 18 - 31 tenth meetups
    • Butte, ID
    • Monkey's Eyebrow, AZ
    • Climax, MI
    • Intercourse, PA
    (etc)
> Jul 19 - 7 tenth meetups

But if there were, eamondaly would be a reasonable enough representative to speak for it.

I would put that Chicago one up so the sidebar was less lonely, (Wednesday, July 1st, 6ish, Billy Goat!) but I'm on the Chicago shame bench after having to back out of the 10th Anniversary Block Party Protestacular.

could you also put my dental appointments over there? I really hate having to leave the meta to click on iCal.

Shouldn't Intercourse, PA be before Climax, MI?

Hooooollllyyyyy crap. That's a lot of meetups.

Actually, I don't think this feature is really necessary. I mean, it just crowds the sidebar and drowns out the upcoming non-10th meetups.

Maybe closer to the actual date of the events..?

(SORRY I POSTED THIS COMMENT ON THE OTHER CHICAGO MEETUP THREAD I GOT CONFUSED)

You know what's cool? Sometimes, folks who've only communicated through some lame-ass website get together in person and drink and hang out. I think that's pretty fucking cool.

Thanks for this post loq, because I totally spaced on the date and now have to switch to another state for the meet-up. You're a meet-up saver.

This web site is not lame-ass!

Well I see that the meetup sidebar has now been updated. The downside is it's made the sidebar longer than the main content section of MetaTalk. Maybe we could/should temporarily display more posts?
