Scrabble, anyone?
I've become addicted to Facebook and iGoogle Scrabble. Any MeFites up for a game? MeMail me or reply to this thread if you're down.
Perhaps we can have a tournament of sorts as well, if enough people want to do it.

I've been playing over at isc.ro. Handle is the same here. Other MeFites listed in this older thread.

I stopped playing Scrabble, on principle, when the dictionary refused to believe that I could use "cockbadger".

I'm totally in, but reenum, what about that crazy FPP post!?!?!

Well folks, I did think the flowcharts were funny. In retrospect, I probably should have thought things through more. I'm working on another, less offensive, and more interesting FPP for sometime next week. Hopefully, that will redeem me. There are things that horribly offend some that I find amusing. The FPP was definitely skirting that line for me, which means I shouldn't have put it out for MeFi. Please forgive me.
In the meantime, please MeMail me with links to your FB profiles. I have little going on besides the Scrabble.

I'm on Facebook and yes it's my real name, no matter what anyone says. Got the Scrabble iPhone App, which can connect with the Facebook app. Bring it.

I'm not all that good, but I enjoy it. My Facebook is linked to in my profile here. Quick question though. With Scrabble on Facebook is it a live game or what? I'd prefer a not live thing with my crazy schedule.

No, it's not a live game at all, you can take as long as you want between turns.

Oooh, Scrabble is fun. Somebody should definitely start that Facebook group, and announce it here.
Also, if anybody wants to Scrabble with me in the meantime, send me an email!

I'm in, as long as I never ever get another fine hand of I U I U V I U. That tile collective can cordially bite me. The handle's the same on facebook.

Oh hey, there's already a MeFi group on Facebook! Just do a search for Metafilter on FB and you'll see it. Over 1,000 peeps already. Scrabble on.

Add some mefits as friends, add the Scrabble app and then go into the app and create a game, adding a Mefite (or two or three) as your oppenant.

Thanks Brandon Blatcher.
Damn! I sent a friend request but they may not know my real name. This is a real outer of an application. I have in the past kept my MeFi personae separate from real life but I love Scrabble hugely and have no real-life competitors so I'm outing myself.

I just GOT a friend request from someone whose name I don't recognize, and my real name is on facebook and no one here would necessarily know it. But I posted under my real name over in the "mefi scrabble" thread in the Mefi facebook group (although I do cop to my MeFi name in that post).
What I've been doing if I get a friend request from someone whose name I don't recognize is what I always do -- send a message and ask for clarification on how I know them. If I hear from them "I saw you in the Mefi scrabble group", then sure, I'll friend you. I also promise to keep people's MeFi names or real names private unless specifically permitted otherwise.
This seems like it'd be workable, for anyone concerned about crossing the streams.

Oh hey, this might help too...create a friend list called "MeFi" or whatever, and when you get/make a friend request, just make sure to add them to the MeFi friend list. You can modify the MeFi list to limit how much personal info they see.
Also, 3 or 4 person MeFi Scrabble games are a bit more fun (although 2 is great too!)

Yup--Lexulous, Scrabble and Wordscraper are all Scrabble-esque FB apps.
If memory serves: Lexulous is a regular Scrabble board with tweaked tile distribution and eight tiles in a rack (and bingo bonuses for using either seven or eight). It'll do British or American English.
Scrabble is regular Scrabble. For Americans, at least, they offer TWL or a Merriam-Webster word list.
Wordscraper, if memory serves, offers a bunch of custom boards with Quintuple Word Scores and stuff. The default board, though, is a Super Scrabble board. The tile set is larger (I'm not sure if it's the Super Scrabble set), and the point values are tweaked. They offer American and UK English.
All three offer regular and challenge games. I don't believe any of 'em, or any other FB Scrabble-like, lets you play w/SOWPODS. (I'd love to be wrong, though.)
