Meet me in St. Louis, MeFi August 29, 2009 9:21 AM Subscribe
Jonathan Coulton is coming to St. Louis Sept. 19, and so am I! Wanna meet up?
I'm going to be in STL the weekend of Sept. 18-20 and will be attending said concert on the 19th. I'd love to meet some local Mefites. Is anyone else planning to go the the show? Interested in a pre-show meetup? Or something else that weekend?

I'm still really pissed off that he decided to show up in Chicago on the same night and same time as They Might Be Giants. I already bought my TMBG tickets too, so I'll have to wait what feels like forever to get the chance to see him again.

I've got a show that night too, but if it's early enough and I don't have to work at my "real job" I'd be interested in getting together.

Too bad, I'll be in Iowa that weekend for a football game. But if you need recommendations on where to eat/drink, MeMail me and I'll give you the STLMO hookup.

I'll be there, with at least three other people (and probably more). I imagine I can convince some of those folks that they want to be honorary MeFites.

You should come down and hang out with us on the 19th. You can be the Honorary Cortex.

So cool, I can haz meetup?
I lived in St. Louis from 1990-96, so my knowledge of interesting places to go is woefully out-of-date. Where do the cool kids hang out these days?
Also, does anyone know, is there parking near Off Broadway?

Street parking is no problem new Off Broadway. For good beer and spirits within walking distance, go to the Stable on Cherokee Street.

Just—foodwise, if you go there, avoid any of the "grinders" that include beef. The chicken ones, on the other hand, are delightful. Also, if you don't like echoey spaces, you might not like the Stable.

The Stable looks interesting, and walking distance is nice. I'm open to other suggestions, too.
But WTF Stable, no toasted ravioli on the menu? In St. Louis?
I mean seriously, do you know how hard it is to find that stuff outside of the St. Louis metro area? Damn near impossible. Should be mandatory in all bars!

You'd better go. You're my ride.
But seriously folks, we're talking Saturday, Sept. 19? (Just to nail things down a bit...)

(Also, it seems that The Stable is pretty close to my gig, so I'm for that too, if it matters...)

Yeah, Saturday 9/19. The JoCo show starts at 8, with doors opening at 7, so what's a good time to convene? 5? 5:30?

Hmm. I was going to suggest CBGB on South Grand, which, barwise, I like much better than The Stable. But if it's food we're wantin'...I guess The Stable'd work.
Alternately, if you're up for good food, there's almost anything on South Grand. Pho Grand (Vietnamese, a little upscale), King & I (Thai), Iron Barley (not technically on South Grand, but actually even closer to Off Broadway), Meskerem (Ethiopian)...I don't know about anyone else, but I've also been wanting to try the Shaved Duck for a while, too.
Any of those stick (in a good way) with anyone?

Oh, and for the toasted ravioli, there's also Mangia Italiano on S. Grand; that's certainly another good option!

Well, as tempting as those other suggestions sound, I really like the idea of being able to park once and walk from the meetup to the show (also, is anyone else on MeFi actually going to see JoCo?).
So let's say the Stable, starting at 5:30, Saturday Sept. 19. Who's with me?

Barring my having to quit my job because they double booked me again, I should be able to make it. Of course if I quit my job, I'd be free too, huh? Just someone else would have to foot the bill...
