Washington, DC mefites! I'll be in town next week for a conference, and would love to meet up with you all.

I was thinking Friday, February 12th. Evening-ish?

Looks like that works for me.

Bah. I'm always off by a week. Have fun, folks.

Oooh, nice! We (Bulgaroktonos, Copronymus and I) should be around -- it will be nice to see someone from Providence!

I think I can, I think I can.

I'd love to finally make it to one.

+10 for Magnetic Fields reference! Swoon!

I am broke from going to so many meetups.

Yay! I wouldn't know the first thing about locations, though. Any ideas?

Do you have any idea what Metro line(s) you'll have easy access to from where you're staying? That would help in picking a spot.

I think I'm staying near the Red - Farragut North metro station. But I plan on being around the city a bit, so I'm sure I can arrange to come anywhere that you all think would be fun.

I think I can probably make it ... haven't been able to make the last few so it'll be nice to see everyone again.

Red Derby was suggested last time. Or Dupont Circle would be easy for you to get to, lunit. Fox & Hounds?

I'll be in town next weekend and might be able to shake free (depends on how late you all stay out). I'll be in the Mt Pleasant area.

Will try to make it out too... picking a place and getting this sidebarred soon would definitely help us make critical mass! :)

Unhelpfully, I'm a relative newbie to both DC and meetups, so I'm going to just keep an eye on this thread now that it's been pointed out to me... :)

And I'm in a similar position to NikitaNikita, so some feedback about location would be helpful - Red Derby works for me, but is Petworth too out of the way for others?

Time: 7:00?

Ah guys, I am so sorry! My conference was unexpectedly canceled due to the weather, so I won't end up being in DC afterall. I was looking forward to meeting all of you - hopefully some other time!

So I hear this meetup moved south of all the cold, white stuff?

I'm guessing there's a strong lean toward waiting until after Mother Nature stops beating up on DC to have the next meet up? Sorry not to get the chance to meet you, lunit!

Bummer. I always miss the Chicago meetups so I was looking forward to catching one on the road. Hopefully the visit will be a good time anyway. :)

Colophon: I spent a lot of time walking in the street and got to show off my Chicago-style snow shoveling skills. Highlights included a good selection of beers at Churchkey with dinner at Birch and Barley, Austrian beers at The Saloon preceded by chili cheese fries at Ben's and followed by dinner at Dukem; lots of walking, did I mention, and treacherous sidewalks. Still waiting for my chance at Pho 14. Hopefully next time!
