How does Mefi feel about posts concerning quasi-celebrities, that I really don't know personally, who have gone missing?
I'm confused. Are you asking about posting this to Metafilter? If so, it probably depends on what you're trying to accomplish. Want to do a mutli-faceted post with interesting links about his various roles and include a link to him being missing? That could MAYBE fly if it's done right. A single link post to the fact that he's missing? Not so much...

And yeah, I see that you're new so I'm trying to give you the benefit of the doubt here, but if your purpose in posting this to MetaTalk was to let people know he's missing and not to ask whether it's good enough for a MetaFilter post, this probably isn't going to fly either.

I don't get that link regardless. Some photo of a long haired guy? Maybe I didn't wait long enough for it to load.
And as to the question, there's no there there. Until more time goes by or more is known not sure this is even a story.
So your question is a bit off. Would this make a good post? I'm with oneirodynia on the answer to that one.
Maybe if you spent the time actually making a post about the guy, who he was, what he's been up to, what's he's done since the "Growing Pains" days, and mentioned that he's missing as an aspect of said post it would fly.

It's the universally reviled subgrowth between NewsFilter's parts and anus: News of the WeirdFilter.

MetaTalk is not for trying out MeFi posts. A single link to a tumblr blog is rarely enough for a post on MeFi.

To answer your question: MeFi thrives on both quasi-celebrities and mystery posts. Combine the two and you have FPP gold.

More to the point, MeFi is not for getting PSAs out. If there's a real story there, please wait until there is more than a single blog post about it.

If there's something substantial or interesting to this beyond "sort of famous person currently missing", feel free to make a post about it. If not, there's really no reason there would be a post, no.
Generally, if the question is "is this really something that would go over well as a post", the safe bet is to opt not to. But just making the post is the other option; asking about whether or not to make the post in Metatalk tends to just feel like a work-around and it seems to annoy a fair number of people.
