It might be fun to add another person's Favorites page to one's own Favorites, yes?

I'm not sure what you mean, but yes, I would like to add Aztro Zombie and The Pink Supeheroes's favorites to my own.

I want there to be a link on my profile page for "AskChococat."

And where is that thing that prevents me from misspelling popular user-names?

What?

It believe swift wants to be able to click [add to favorites] on someone else's list of favorites. That way, when browsing his own favorites he'll see a link to [User's Favorites] in his list of favorite posts/comments and remember to browse them.

Because a list of favorites isn't a post or a comment, there's no existing spot for it. And we don't have a way to favorite an arbitrary page, they're really designed for MetaFilter posts or comments. I think a generic bookmark service might work better for this.

Yes, that's it. And okie-doke.

shmegegge: Your username isn't that popular. In fact only one person uses it, on all of Metafilter!

I'm pretty sure you're not supposed to cross the streams.

Who would misspell shmcgegge?

What if the other person uses favorites like "yes, I agree with that comment" and you use favorites for bookmarks and yet another person uses it to track people they don't like? THEN WHAT?

I think the easiest solution is that we come to a consensus on what people should use favorites for.

Personally, I'm collecting them to sell on the Metafilter Black Market. The lower a favoriter's user number, the higher the value. In fact there's an entire complex pricing chart you can check out on the secret caba.... Oh crap, I've said too much....

CABAL FINANCIAL REPORT FOLLOWS

Favorite futures are up 3.25% across the board, with users in the 70K range making up most of the gains. sub-1000 users continue their slide, as a rash of profit-taking is stabilizing that volatile market, for now. Flag-backed securities continue their strong performance, with the "derail" and "offensive" tranches outperforming their counterparts dramatically. The "HTML error" tranche still represents a good value for money. Unresolved question prices are up almost 10%, as more and more questions get answered. Relationshipfilter remains the safe and steady gainer in that category.

This is conflating contacts with favorites. Add them as a 'muse' or just a regular old 'contact' and then their favorites are just two clicks from your profile. Also, while browsing other people's favorites there is a very handy [add to favorites] link next to each post/comment on their list so that it can be on your list too!

You know those favorites that are, like, double favorites, you know?

I'm reading The Algebraist now, and I like how the billion-year-old organisms on gas giants use kudos as their hierarchical principle. It took us MeFites a mere decade to get there.

And when smell-o-vision comes to the internet, we'll rename them "flavorites", right?

then perhaps there would be a MeTa on the etiquette of favoriting one's own favorites list and a few people would become offended that favoriting favorites was used in this manner.

WE ARE METAFILTER. YOUR FAVORITES WILL BE ASSIMILATED. YOUR DISTINCTIVE POSTS AND COMMENTS WILL BE ADDED TO OUR OWN. RESISTANCE IS FUTILE.
