Would it be possible to expand the mobile menu on Ask to include posts by category and/or tags?

I lovelovelove the mobile version on my iphone, but I often browse by category, and in order to do so I must switch out of the mobile version. Would it be too nontrivial to add the categories -- or at least a link to them -- as well as popular tags?

The problem is that we don't have infinite space on the menu so we have to draw the line somewhere. Right now you can get to any category by clicking the category name on a particular post. So the front page includes "posted by [user] to [category]" for every post. You could also bookmark a particular category or tag if you visit it frequently—same with the popular tags page.

We can't put everything on the menu so that means some people's favorite things won't make it. Sorry about that, I know that's frustrating.

The "category not found" error page includes a list of categories, so you could bookmark this page to get to all categories quickly.

Hey, this is as good a place as any to ask. How do I get the iPhone mobile Metafilter page to come back after I've dismissed it in favor of the non-mobile version?

Click the 'Mobile' link in the footer. It's the last link in the 2nd column under 'Links'.

Can I ask a question too, if we're talking about mobile ponies? I don't know if it's just me, but on my iphone the main content area is a hair too wide for the screen. I always have to "squish" it in a little bit before I can read the whole thing. Happens in either orientation. Is this a known issue, or even an issue anyone else has?

Happy to break this out into a different thread if necessary.

I have not experienced that on my iphone, chesty. But then I mostly use VanillaSurf instead of Safari. (Which I recommend.)

Haven't seen that either, chesty. Do you have a recent version of the OS/Safari? Maybe it's an issue with an earlier version?

No, everything's newest. It's not jailbroken or in any way...rendered interesting, but if it's not a known issue I'll try to figure out how to fix it on my end.
