DC Meetup again?

I am going to DC this week. I have read there was a meet up around the 4th. Yet I'll ask anyway: anyone up for meeting up on this semi-special occasion?

So I am heading to DC on business. Will be there tomorrow, and leave Friday. Thus, other than walking around the Monte Cello (which I missed on my previous 2 trips... bad luck), and hanging around with some folks I have not seen in a year, I would like to chill with some of the DC area mefites to see what's happening in and around the Capitol.

Any takers? If so, where to? I have already been to the Hard Rock around there and some other restaurant (I'll know it when I see the name), so if you know of some other great places, I'd be happy to go.

I was thinking about hitting Screen on the Green Monday. But not if it's 100 degrees.

I was in DC for the week a couple weeks ago and considered trying to see if anyone was up for sharing a drink. I didn't though, because twice I've recommended meetups and twice they've fallen flat...so...apparently I stink of fail. (Which explains a lot.)

I would however, personally recommend Fugo de Chao or Old Ebbitt House as a place to have some decent food, Fugo all around and OEH if you can get there between 3 and 6 for half price oysters.

Next time I'm in DC (probably this time next year), I will be ISO Mefites to join me at Fugo for grotesque volumes of meat.

MrMoonPie: Looks like they're showing Bonnie and Clyde that night. Haven't seen that movie (*gasp* likely because I'm young), so it likely would be good.

And yes, there is a Hard Rock.

I haven't been to a meetup since cortex was in town, but Screen on the Green seems a little restrictive to me. Anything that could maybe occur afterwards for us socially-drinkally folks?

Yes, yes. I just moved to Arlington and don't know anybody. I will go to one of these meetup thingies, assuming I can figure out the Metro.

I'll throw out Iron Horse Tap Room as a possibility. It is a fine place to have a few drinks, and is within walking distance from Screen on the Green and the Red, Yellow, Green, Orange, and Blue lines.

The Iron horse sounds great in combo with screen on the green... movie starts at the earliest 8:30, so maybe 6:30 for the Horse, or would that be better after the movie (I do have to catch the Metro)?

I'm trying to get in as much as possible in a day here. Question being would Rash be able to make it on Monday (today) instead of Wednesday?

Keep in mind metro ends at midnight on weekdays, and the movie won't be over until 10:30/11:00 or so, so bar is probably best bet beforehand.

You gotta get to the Mall early to get decent seats for Screen on the Green, so drinks beforehand won't work, either. I don't think we have critical mass for tonight (Monday), anyway.

What if we got together and didn't watch a movie? I like SotG, but generally I prefer to sit on blankets silently with a different group. Let's get together somewhere and talk and make some noise.

I'm leaning towards Screen on the Green tonight. I can get there early and bring a tarp to save some space for anyone that wants to drop in.

I'll be there who knows when. I'm with a group visiting the archives, likely dinner afterwards, then I'll shoot over to the green. I'm in a Blue Metafilter tee.
