email addresses no longer obscured April 14, 2002 11:38 PM   Subscribe

Some Email addresses on user profiles - mine and Insomnyuk's, for instance - are no longer scrambled with an "AT" instead of a "@". There seems to be some strange highlighting going on as well. Is everything OK?

Here's a relevant MeTa thread, posted by FidelDonson, asking why @ appeared as %40 - recently changed to AT.

I noticed this problem too, Miguel. Perhaps just a misplaced line in the code while Matt changing or fixing something?

It's too bad though, my style sheet trick no longer works as intended. If I hide
"What's the deal with your nickname? How did you get it? If your nickname is self-explanatory, then tell everyone when you first started using the internet, and what was the first thing that made you say "wow, this isn't just a place for freaks after all?" Was it a website? Was it an email from a long-lost friend? Go on, spill it." I also end up hiding the email address and the other dark blue areas.

Ahh... Seems like a useful feature, limiting the stalkers and all...

Since the emails are only shown to other members (and not the public at large), I decided to remove all spam-bot scrambling tricks, since no spam bots would ever see these addresses.

I put a darker blue background on bits of information that are only seen by members, non-members will not see them. This is explained on the customize page, but I'll add something to the user pages today.

Oops and thanks, riffola and Matt. That's great. I guess it explains why my new account has had zero spam so far. ;)

My yahoo email address is so deluged with spam that, ah hell, it's not even worth bothering with removing it at this point (my spam started picking up in January, even though I swear I have not signed up for a thing in the last 6 months, except MeFi).

Big, mean, snarly manly man
After something like that, you think someone is going to stalk you evan?
