Could this be the very first helmet thread on Metafilter?

It's every cyclist's favorite topic here on the blue.

Is there any reason at all for this to be in MetaTalk? Here is the helmet tag (yes, no bike helmets). Here is my calendar showing it's late on Saturday night. Here is me asking why this needs a Meta thread....

This is my first post anywhere on Metafilter. If I have not followed decorum, you can pull this down.

I do think it's remarkable that a forum around as long as MeFi wouldn't have had a dedicated helmet occur previously.

computech_apolloniajames: This is my first post anywhere on Metafilter.

I think the helmet may be too tight.

Actually, the main link of today's post was actually linked previously in a longer thread about bicycle safety/laws. So, it's not really a first anything.

Does the mod admin interface include an open bar yet?

"Strange what kinds of randomness people will think is salient."

Wow, that sentence doesn't include u, the twelfth most common letter in the English language.

Now all I can do is look at all the comments to find one without 'u'.

This helmet thread is fairly pithy.

Yeah, this is not the first discussion of bike helmets and certainly not by far the first discussion of bike culture of bike/car culture clash or so on. Not a huge deal or anything, computech_apolloniajames, I can dig the whole thing with being excited about observation of community behavior, but between the lack of any real good reason for this to be open and the tendency for bike stuff to be kind of contentious in general for whatever reason, I think it'd probably make the most sense to just close this up.
