Cool Papa Bell's Ferris Bueller/Fight Club theory has been turned into a poster.

It's part of a "fan theories" movie poster set.

It's not a Monet painting, though, it's Seurat's A Sunday Afternoon on the Island of La Grande Jatte.

I find it interesting that the page mention MetaTalk, but doesn't include a link.

The Shining is a thinly veiled admission that Stanley Kubrick faked the Apollo 11 moon landing.

wat.

I never liked CPB's theory, as there isn't much proof of it in the movie while it completely undermines the film for little benefit to the story, IMO. Loved Fight Club though.

That said, I hope CPB is getting a cut of any sales of that poster.

Oh man this Shining = Apollo 11 Fake Launch video is the best kind of nonsense.

CPB has tried to convince us before that it's not his theory, but that idea never takes.

I just figured out that the Shining theory works great if you substitute the making of 2001 for the "fake moon landing". All the rocket imagery and America symbols are a signal that Jack's dissolution and madness mirror the torture of Kubrick making that huge film for a big uncaring studio, and by proxy is about the pressure of anyone laboring on an artistic endeavor in isolation for a judgmental audience.

And my favorite of these theories is the one that says that Cordelia and the fool in King Lear are played by the same person because the Fool is either a stand-in for her, some sort of spiritual doppleganger, or literally just Cordelia pretending to be the Fool to be close to her Dad. Actually, finding these links has inspired me to make a post out this--it might be the original Epileptic Trees theory.

That right there is a thing of sad beauty.

I too love the Cordelia=Fool theory (in the production of it I was in, I convinced the director to go that route. It just makes the play so much better IMO.)

It's not a very appealing poster, aesthetically speaking...

My pet theory is that Mister Poster Designer is a closet Clueless fan:
Tai: Do you think she's pretty?
Cher: No, she's a full-on Monet.
Tai: What's a monet?
Cher: It's like a painting, see? From far away, it's OK, but up close, it's a big old mess. Let's ask a guy. Christian, what do you think of Amber?
Christian: Hagsville.
Cher: See?

Didn't Cool Papa Bell admit somewhere that this theory was one that'd been floating around for a while before he brought it up on Mefi - in other words, it's not his theory?

The text next to the poster implies that it's not his own theory, but that CPB is sharing his "favorite thought piece" about it.

Be that as it may, I'll always remember where I first heard it!

They taste the same when you're drowning cheap rum.

Besides Cherry Coke rules them all.

Actually, I vastly prefer Pepsi EXCEPT when mixing them with alcohol. I've never enjoyed a Pepsi cocktail of any sort. When drinking to get buzzed, Jack and Coke is my go to, but Jack and Pepsi is an abomination.

(I've never enjoyed a cocktail that had cheap rum in it either. That's not to say I haven't drunk a few of them.)

But yes, Cherry Coke is the best HFCS-containing beverage there is -- by leaps and bounds.

I wonder if any of these fan theories crossed the mind of the writer during the extensive writing process. Does anyone happen to know if John Hughes ever commented on the Fight Club theory before he died?
