As [northern hemisphere] summer winds down, [other people's] kids are back in school and [US] politics ramp up, I would like to suggest more happy and/or fun posts in September. More cats and kittens! More puppies and dogs! If you find spiders to be cute and/or amazing, post some! Whatever strikes your fancy, share it!

This initiative seems like the perfect vehicle for my ongoing plan to make wombats the internet's favorite animal. We've had enough of goats in pajamas! Enough otters adorably eating their food! This is the time of the wombat!

For some of us, this is why we love wombats. If you didn't want your head crushed by a cartilage-reinforced bum, perhaps you shouldn't have poked it into a burrow that doesn't belong to you.

Does "Happy Fun September" have to be cuddly-animal-based? I mean I could offer up some of my local fuzzies (there are two colonies of otters along the coast within a dozen miles of me), but I might prefer to fetch some of the cooler light-hearted webcomics out there... NBC and DC are threatening to air a "workplace comedy" set behind the scenes of superherodom - really? I can name FOUR webcomics that have worked off that premise for YEARS. Speaking of which, what I know of wombats I learned from Ursula Vernon & Digger. I ALWAYS remember Tunnel Seventeen. So, would you like a comics (web & dead tree) post a day from me?

Yup. When I floated the idea by the mods, I mentioned soliciting MeFites for more small, fun/ amazing/ interesting things, but I got caught up on cute animals, for varying values of cute.

Yes please and thank you for this! I'm currently laid up with a broken leg and hand*, and need all the happy-fun-cuteness I can get. My two cats are being spectacularly useless in this area, as one finds me too boring, and the other finds me too menacing to snuggle with, entertain, or keep company in any way.
*On a couple occasions, I've found it necessary to carry a knife in my (casted) broken hand while hobbling around the house on my crutch. I've been told I bear a striking resemblance to this guy.

Have enjoyed the other posts so far on HappyFunSeptember and have just contributed one (am assuming that the meaning of HappyFunSeptember extends to calming and relaxing). Considering it's only the 2nd of the month, it's a good collection of FPPs alread. Excellent suggestion, filthy light thief.

Too thin for a FPP (although I was awfully tempted), a dog groomer gets caught by his wife having WAY too much fun at work.

Hurricane Hermine trashed my Labor Day weekend and left me without power for 4 days.... so maybe the rest of September will be more on the Happy Fun side of things.

I'm currently drafting a post based around English village fetes and shows because of this request (my response), but it's taking a while as it's problematic - keeps sliding into Great British Bake Off Mel and Sue territory. Which is quite easy to do with English village shows, unfortunately.
An example: the Muker Grand Annual Show. Go see the 2016 Show Schedule (direct link: PDF) and turn to page 14. Read category 57.
Now try and explain that to someone who is not from rural England.
Anyway, I'll do the best I can and will post soon.
