Can you help me find an article about a fine art scandal? September 15, 2016 10:53 AM   Subscribe

This article was previously posted to Metafilter, I believe within the last year. It was a long story about a man who worked as a fine art shipper who moved up in the ranks to become an art dealer.

The scandal was related to the fact that he was acting as both a buyer and a dealer to a client. He would buy a piece of art, mark up the price, and then "broker" a sale to his client. It was morally corrupt but potentially legal.

You must be thinking of "The Bouvier Affair," by Sam Knight, from the New Yorker (February 8 & 15, 2016). I too thought it had been on MeFi, but I'm not finding it.

Aha. So why did that not turn up when I did a site search on Bouvier??

If you started your search from e.g. this MetaTalk thread, you'd have ended up with the drop down defaulting to MetaTalk rather than either the blue or all sites, so that could do it.

I did a MetaTalk search for Bouvier and it led me to this thread where Etrigan links to the post in question.

I did a metatalk search for recursive and it led me to this thread where beerperson links to a thread where Etrigan links to the post in question.
