Beware: I spent 250 tickets to craft KK Slider's chair, because I thought it was available to build for a limited time only. Noooooo.... it only WORKS for a limited time!
So I delayed my progress in the game immensely. On the other hand, Slider's strumming away in my campsite, and I can talk to him Any. Time. I. Want.

Nope, you just need to put it out once. And if you let the game do it automatically, you can have it revert back to your original layout immediately.

I have nothing to compare it to, but this feels like odd game to pick up as My First Animal Crossing Game. On the one hand, I'm still playing it, but... is there anything more complex than Emotional Labor For Your Animal Buddies? Because my actual dog keeps suggesting I should stop collecting virtual seashells and go for a walk.
Maybe it'd be more fun if I treated it as an open-this-up-occasionally-when-bored game. Hm.

You get the upper right quad when you reach level 10 I think (there's a sign there) but you can only put an amenity there. I haven't looked through all the options. It I want a pool and a space shuttle. Just like real life.

Honestly I'm more interested in checking out the campers than the camps. Campgrounds tend to get a bit chaotic because of all of the demands of the animals' conditional friendships, but campers can be set up just so.

Two things I discovered that I didn't see mentioned anywhere:
1) to save room you can shake fruit trees and let the fruit stay on the ground. Even if you don't pick it up it will start the countdown clock. You do have to pick up the fruit if you want to shake the tree again, but you can otherwise keep that fruit on the ground instead of carrying it. You'll also always have fruit ripening.
2) if you put on a dress and then put on a pair of pants you'll be left with a cute white tank top that I haven't seen elsewhere.

It turns out there is some upper limit on friends, maybe a hundred? The game just abruptly gave me an error message when I tried to add one of the last four or so folks in my pending friend request list. Which, blarg, I can understand if they need to manage an upper limit on that stuff for whatever reason but there's zero signposting of this and I don't even know if I have any way of checking how many friends I currently have in my list other than manually counting.

I’m so happy people found my camper of (very mild) terror! The 8yo who stole my phone / AC identity on Thursday did not get the Joke, so it had to be restored to its current glory. Also, I have thoughts:
* I am enjoying collecting fish and bugs and fruit for my pocket-universe critters.
*The multiplayer aspects have sooo much room for improvement. Buying from other’s market box is entirely too cumbersome. I understand the game wants to push you to using your leaf tickets, so you’ll buy more leaf tickets, but for a game of waiting and gentle social interactions like AC, I really want to buy my friend’s spare squid if they have one when I need one, but I don’t want to go visit all 95 friends to check if they have one each time— since the market box listing in the friends lift is possibly incomplete. I would love to be able to sort and filter my friends’ Market boxes, even based on type of contents— show me only market boxes with fish!
* oh man I want to be able to build friendship levels with the other rulers of pocket universes (erm, I mean, campsite managers). You hit the level limits pretty quickly and the amenities to raise them take a while to build, so spreading out is best IMHO.

The bug was fixed overnight, yay.
I wish items that were being crafted were greyed out, or had some other indication that they were in progress. I’ve already crafted two extra items by mistake. That may be the pot, but I’d be eternally grateful if the game could save me from myself.

I've been favorite-ing items that need to be crafted to invite new animals, and then removing the favorite tag before I craft. At one point I had two cheeseboards being crafted in 15 min of each other, but of course, you can never have too much cheese at the campsite!
I'm intrigued about the economics of the market box. Will it ultimately be a race to the bottom, or will we all decide to price-fix? I personally check the market boxes in my Kudos list before the general list, and typically pick the first person who has the item, disregarding the price.

Y'all, I got inspired. To, uh, blow a whole bunch of those My Nintendo Rewards points on MORE STEEL so that I can build the campsite of my dreams.
I drew on Actual Camping Experience to build the campsite feature everyone really wants, and lots of it.
Strangely, they're all still waiting in line no matter how much capacity I add. And none of them ever seem to be washing their hands.

My market box has become a defacto museum. I put all my super rare fish and whatnot there since there's no other way to show off. I do pretty routinely check other people's market boxes, especially when I'm trying to find one random Pale Chub or Fruit Beetle to assuage some animal friend.

I've mostly been putting stuff in my market box to help other players, so it's usually at the minimum price. I've been surprised, though. I expected it to be a fruit-based economy, with maybe some market for the uncommons (the rares that are only 100). The fruit from the 3 kinds I don't have doubles of is the only thing I consistently run out of. However, my fruit has moved only slowly, and it's been fish and to a lesser degree insects that have sold consistently. And the two uncommons I tested have been sitting there untouched for days.

I still haven't caught (or seen) any of the super rare in the wild, but that's what I've started doing with the snapper and black bass. Having a way to display your favorite things is another thing that reminds me of Glitch :(

I think fish and insects sell because they're less reliable and for fish especially, it's harder to tell what you're getting before you catch it, so it can be kind of a pain in the butt if you're looking for something specific. Supply and demand have been fluctuating pretty wildly for me, too; a couple days ago I had more fruit beetles than I could imagine wanting, but today I bought every one I saw in a market box (I'm too impatient with loading screens to have looked in that many market boxes, though).
But yeah, I price things at the minimum in my market box; I like the feeling that I might be helping someone and I appreciate that interactions between players in this game pretty much have to be benign (so far, at least).

I've been pricing mine at a minimum because I have so many bells I can't imagine needing the market box as a source of income. I've mostly been using my bells for crafting, and I am nowhere near having enough crafting materials to spend all my bells.

Does anyone think Shovelstrike Quarry is a bit of a scam? I find gold and silver and rubies and all I get is about $500 bells and one measly bottle of sporty essence, which in my calculation equates to about $50.

I'm pretty convinced that as you start to get in the higher levels, the game messes with the probability numbers for the variable commodities (fish and bugs). Today I had several outstanding requests for the green fruit beetle, and could barely catch one every time I revisited the island. Once I (finally!) filled the requests, the beetles were back with a vengeance. When I needed monarchs, there were way fewer monarchs. So if you're looking to help other players out, stocking some of the "more frequent" bugs/fish in large lots would be great. I was willing to pay top price for fruit bugs, but no one had them :c

I've been keeping a stack of 6 of the commons, and that's usually insulated me from most variability, but there are days when every damn animal wants three kinds of fruit and the trees are bare.
BTW, if you haven't realized this -- fruit on the ground doesn't despawn (though you can't shake the tree again until it's gone), so you can store 3 on the ground and 3 in the tree as well as your inventory.

I have three to five of each common fish and bug in my market box most of the time (until someone buys them and I haven't restocked, I guess). I've been spending my leaf tickets on item space and market boxes, though. There's usually pears and cherries as well (those are my common fruit) and one each of the most common rares (red snapper, black bass, horned dynastid). So look for Blueberry pie. It's like having extra pocket space.

I know shells don't respawn very quickly, but you also don't seem to need many, so I'd recommend letting them pile up a bit too, and find out how few you can get away with carrying. The beach can hold at least ten of them for you.

I'm just making a tasteful livingroom with a mix of antique and rustic and midcentury furniture, and a tasteful yard with lots of happy green plants and lots of places to rest and relax. Just like I would in real life if I had an unlimited furniture and plants budget.
Is there a game where you just plant plants and trees and they grow? I remember I used to play Zoo Tycoon which had a significant tree-planting element, but that was years ago. I've also played Viridi on my phone (you make bowls of succulent displays), but I got to the point where it became boring.

I'm not sure if you have played the other AC titles, but that's a feature. In ACNL, you can not only plant trees (even more varieties than ACPC), but also flowers that you can hybridize (it's complicated, but I like it) and bushes that only bloom at the correct time of year.

I've kept my main area consistently a conversation pit, with a table surrounded by many couches and chairs, but I've swapped out what is is in the back (currently a kitchenish area) and in the 'yard', which has been a stage, a cookout zone, and currently is a bedroom.
I'm somewhat annoyed you can't put rugs on both areas. There's room for them, but when you place a new one it always put it straddling the two areas and removing the rug that was on one side.

holborne, the other not obvious one I've found is that when you invite an animal to your camp for the first time, all the animals at camp reset. So it's best to save the invites until after you do a round of talking to them for gifts, and filling any requests. Then you can go around again after the invite cinematic finishes.
Btw, the talking option resets about every hour, and it cycles at the same time for all animals, so once you talk to an animal you start the timer for the next reset for everyone there. So once you talk to one, hit them all.
Also, I find it useful to keep maxed-level animals in your camp, so that you aren't being asked for expensive resources when it isn't going to get you level bumps. They do sometimes still request items in camps, but not as often. But that's me, other people like to keep their lowest level animals in camp so they can get the small level hits every hour.
Also, if it hasn't been emphasized enough: always be building amenities, because they take forever and you'll end up with animals that can't progress.

Also about amenities, to go from level one to level to you don't have to craft anything. Just go to the campsite and when you choose level 2 itwilljyst askvir the resources. Levels to three is crafted. Note, you can only build one amenity at a time, so if you're crafting one you'll need to wait until that's finished.

I seem to be limited by cotton, but I've found that Bud often provides a hit (heh) when I talk to him. Are other people just using leaf tickets to get out resource scarcity, or is there an untapped source of resources that I'm missing? I'm saving leaf tickets to get both of the special chairs, but I'm starting to think that's a suckers play if I'm not willing to pony up money.
Also, they don't introduce new characters after level 35ish :/

Me too. I'm cultivating the villagers who give cotton as their primary resource: Agnes, Bitty, Bud, Maggie, Rex, Roald, and Tex. Here's a sortable list of villagers and resources. It's still not enough, because I maxed out Tex getting enough cotton to lure Bud and Roald, and I'm going to need a lot more preserves to get Rex. I regret crafting the pizza for Ketchup. She's adorable, but her resource is steel and I have a ton of animals who give that. Spending the preserves on the cornstalks for Rex, Tad, and Charlise would have been a better plan. (As it is, I only have Jay for preserves, until I meet Angus.)
My other strategy is building an amenity that comes after the tent levels -- it takes 48 hours, so there is time to save up cotton for some more tent leveling by the time I get that crafting space back.

Also, Kyle is wearing a pleather vest, not jacket, so just keep that in mind if you were thinking about spending calling cards and request tickets to level him up and get your own version of his clothing. Not that I would know anything about that...

Then set a timer for one hour, talk to them all, repeat, and then before the next shift change, swap them all again. The timer should start from when they're swapped, not when you talk to them first. (And do talk to them first, because any swapping starts the hour timer before they'll talk to you again.) I find it's best to do the errands first, in case I want to pull an animal who is out camping, but if you swap and realize you snagged someone you could have done errands for, you can just swap them back and still do errands for them. I was happy to find that out after thinking I'd messed it all up. This is not a sustainable way of playing, but can work while you're feeling like playing all day.

Oh, also, you know how the friend tab seems to always have a red exclamation point? Turns out that's only when you have kudos or a newly added friend that you haven't looked at yet. If someone wants help for the quarry, there will be no notification. You just have to scroll through the list keeping an eye out for the orange shovel over the time since they've logged in. Why isn't there a tab just for quarry requests? Why doesn't it notify you?

I have to confess I've already deleted it off my phone. It was draining too much of my time and my battery. It's linked to my Nintendo account so my game is theoretically saved if I decide to come back, but I've realized that right now I just don't have the willpower to only check in a couple times a day during work and will instead play it compulsively. I've been checking the Able Sisters' shop for pants, too, and haven't found any! It's not that I don't like skirts, but it's a bit frustrating that it's so hard to get pants if your character is female.

So a warning: if you have upgraded to modern camper and you buy any of the custom paint jobs, they will automatically turn your modern camper back into the older model without warning you, and, as far as I can tell you then have to buy modern camper *again* if you want to change it back. At least it was still showing up as costing 5K bells, I didn't actually try to buy it because I put in a complaint ticket instead.
Also, for the tidy-minded: the order of your inventory is set by when you went from 0 of an item to more than 0. So if you want all your rares down at the bottom, you can let a type of common go to 0 then go get more, and they will then appear at the start of the list. I did this because it was annoying me to have a couple of commons sitting at the bottom.

Doh, so I guess I'm stuck with my confetti van until they fix the bug, or I want to shell out 5k bells. You can't convert back to the block colors on the regular camper either, as it appears that the stripes are all 5k. It doesn't consider the original color of the van to be a saved "custom paint job" :/

Mine place is really starting to come together. The front space is lined with tables and all the food and drinks, like a buffet. The second spot was full of hammocks but I ran out of room so I ditched them. Now I'm building it up with tiki torches, fire pits, and hanging out stuff. The front amenity is a Tree swing, which I love, and...I just finished my first level pool!! I'm super excited. Pool Party Phase II begins!
On the first level of the camper I have kitchen stuff in the far upper corner, and then a lattice divider to create a little kitchen. The rest is just tv and couches. But upstairs I want to put the medical bed, OR trays, and dental chair and see what horrors I can come up with for them.

Half of my campsite is a little botanical garden, the other half is set up as a music venue (like you would find at a cool cafe, with mismatched couches and seats in town) for KK Slider to perform. I like it.

Raddle is SO CREEPY. The other day I gave him a bunch of fish and we roasted the fish on sticks around an open fire on the beach and then he held the fish and made the motions of eating it when clearly he was not eating it because of his enormous mask. Was he sucking the nutrients out through psychic osmosis?? Was he pretending to engage in "normal" activities in an attempt to blend in? What are his goals?? I will not be duped.

What really grinds my gears is when the animals request things from the place they are at! I get it if the animal at Lost Lure Creek wants a butterfly, but a pear? From the tree that is literally right next to their tent, and has pears on the tree and on the ground? Dude, pick it up your damn self and save your cotton.

Yeah, but... have we ever seen an animal bend forward? I know they can sit in chairs, and they bend from side to side doing calisthenics (or is that only players?) but what if their little hands/wings can't actually reach and pick up stuff off the ground?

It could be sort of like the "who on earth buys pre-peeled oranges?!" and then someone mentions peripheral neuropathy or arthritis and you're all... oh, dang, unseen illness.

The cats in Neko Atsume just go to someone else’s phone if I ignore them, so I don’t worry about them. These animals are different though, they act independent but they crave reinforcement and are needy and demanding while simultaneously flattering and people-pleasing. I don’t have as much confidence in their independence and self-care skills as I do in the cats’.

I did a xmas-free winter makeover that I'm pretty proud of. Thanks to everyone in this thread causing me to wake up to an already completed special event and like 80 leaf tickets, good job!
I'm very excited about the possibilities of flower gardening but also concerned that it's going to stress me out. Can they wither and die if I don't water them? What if I water them too much? See, villagers can clearly take care of their own basic needs without me. But I get all crouton-petty about plants and that's how I've killed multiple mint plants IRL and never managed a virtual plant sim in any capacity. Will my conviction to never spend real world currency on free to play games override my anxiety about digital plants??

On butterfly Island, does anyone else ride roughshod over butterflies and knock insects off tree trunks with their nets? I feel like I need to tiptoe around the island.
And after having seemingly endless resources to craft things, having to focus on amenities to up their associated animals has left me with mostly empty crafting slots (I'm not crafting non-animal things right now.)
Why isn't there a tab just for quarry requests?
Or even just an orange dot.

The update is here! It’s not showing up in the App Store yet as an upgrade so I can’t get in the game to see it, It just showed up in the App Store so it’s exciting! but it’s still undergoing maintenance so who knows. This is a fast moving story!
I was going to come here and wish for snapshot mode and furniture sets or groups you could switch out easily, and now we have snapshots!

The flower sets are pretty ridiculously impossible for the rarer flowers. I've decided I'm going to do mass planting to get the versions for the ones where you can buy seeds, and then do more hybridizing until I have the full sets and then just leave those planted and call it done. Maybe use the spare spots to get enough for the flower boxes of each, but I think that'll be it.

I haven't quite figured out the strategy for flowers. Obviously we'd all love boxes and boxes of black tulips, but does the cross hybridization have any method, or is it just random? I bought a ton of seeds this morning, but don't know how to get and keep the rarer colors.
Since potions and time are now the limiting factors in constructing amenities, I am starting to reach the limit of iron and wood!

There seem to be some patterns. Black and pink has a decent chance of getting you purple, for example, and seems to be one of the few ways to get it. I have one lonely purple seed stored up for after my mass plantings of store-brought.

These are my notes so far, though I'm sure some one up on reddit has the percentages down based on the internal code. I also didn't do a statistical analysis, so you're probably going to get a mixture of rare colors, the basics (red, orange), and the occasional sinus headache of doom.
Tulips:
Holding Orange:
Red x Orange= Pink
Yellow x Orange = Yellow
Pink x Orange = Pink
Black x Orange = Orange (and possibly other rare colors)
Holding Red:
Orange x Red = Red, Yellow
Pink x Red = Red
Black x Red = Yellow, Red
Yellow x Red = Red
Red x Red = Yellow

Black x Pink = Purple, Black, White

My little Jo has all the flowers except for blue tulips and purple pansies. I only pluck them when I have a seed to replant, so if you're looking for something specific and drop by and don't see it, it's probably growing.
