Three cheers for Chrysostom November 3, 2018 8:04 AM   Subscribe

Title says it all. Dude has been heroic in keeping the community fully informed during this intense campaign season (as he has many times before), and I couldn't find an appreciation post for him, so this is it. Thank you, Chrysostom! You are truly doing all of us a service every day.

Hearty second! When I explain the megathreads to people, Chrysostom's roundups are top on the list. Outstanding.

I will cheer Chrysostom until the cows come home. (And the cows I have in mind are jet-setting, world-seeing cows. There will be extensive cheering.)

Chrysostom is utterly wonderful, and not just for their contributions to the politics threads.

Hooray! Hooray! Huzzah! Yay!

Another big yay for Chrysostom! I've had 538's Latest Polls page open in a tab nonstop for many, many Scaramuccis, but it's still comforting to see his summary at the end of each day.

The love was low key previously. Now, it is a bolder vintage with great nuance.

Adding my voice to the chorus singing our Chrysostom’s praises!

Your long and glorious tenure, and your recent electoral work here, are both truly appreciated, brother.

Chrysostom, the consistency and dedication of your work is literally awesome. I remember talking to a friend about your famous election updates - when I explained that they were nearly daily updates, and that they included a fair number of specials and downballot elections in addition to the federal ones, I believe his reaction was "Wow!" as it should be. And when trying to figure out who to write postcards for, I've often done an in-page browser Find to search for your updates, and gone with the underdogs or close calls.

Huzzah and thank you!

I have read Metafilter for more than 15 years, but have almost never had the nerve to comment. I will now. Thank you, Chrysostom.

Amazing work - much appreciated.

Also fully onboard with someone writing a fanfic story about how Chrysostom suddenly finds that he can alter the results of elections by simply changing his numbers in the posts....like his posts have been hard coded as the command and control central node for the Russian bots that really run the election....
posted by inflatablekiwi at 11:39 PM on November 4, 2018 [6 favorites]

Thanks. Your updates have been indispensable for me. I mostly use them to talk with friends and family in other states about their interesting down ballot races, especially back in special election season.

I believe Chrysostom uses they/them/their pronouns (at least, this is what their Twitter said). Chrysostom has kept me sane in the megathread, and that deserves a round of applause.

Huh, I don't remember that. No, I'm bog-standard male.

But you can call me anything you like, as long as you don't call me late for dinner.
