Goddam! "Why you deleted the CD swap thread Matt?"

the person being discussed requested it, as did the original poster.

I was wondering myself, but those are good reasons.

Yes, but this doesn't mean MeFi Swap III shouldn't happen soon. :)

You mean, there was a MeFi Swap II, and I missed it. Gah. What do I do to get myself back on the list.

Where is the official "me too" page?

Where is the official "me too" page?

I've been wondering the same thing.

I've been wondering the same thing.

Yeah, me too!

there isn't really an official "me too" page. someone started a "hey, lets do another mefiswap" thread a few months ago. Dreama graciously volunteered to put together a page to sign up on and chat about the swap, but its really up to her if she wants to be involved in the same capacity with the eventual MefiSwap III.

oops, that first link should be going here.

I've never participated in one. But I'm extremely interested. How does it work exactly... and therefore, what needs to be done to organize it?

BTW, I read this from the link above already:
You make and mail five mixes, you receive five mixes. Simple, easy, and everyone involved has the chance to promote their favourite music to their fellow MeFites.

There's got to be a little more to it than that. Who mails to who, etc.?

Dreama set up a webpage where you submitted your email address, your mailing address, and your MeFi login name. Once a deadline had been reached, she divided us up into groups of six, and emailed us each the addresses of the other five members of our group. that's pretty much it.

As a public service gesture (and to hopefully dispel any lingering ill-will about the results of the first effort) I'll just mention that in this one I sent out five CDs and got six in return (interrobang jumped in on his own). Yes, definitely a big success, at least from my view, this time around.

Well, deleted threads aside, anyone know of other swaps?
posted by jca at 4:29 PM on August 28, 2002

Not that it's specifically a swap, but some of the folks over at postcardX.net (which was mentioned in a post yesterday) are swapping CDs. You may have to dig through comments to find the ones who are, but there seem to be a few of them.

Dreama has already offered to host MeFiSwap III. Check here for updates.

Nothing against the swaps since I've participated in most of them, but I've found listing burnlists for swapping to be more fun because I get back music more to my liking. Plus it's easier for people to trade for music they might be missing.

So that said ... does anyone out there have some Bloodloss, Anadorei, or the risque version of Elvis singing, "Shake, Rattle, & Roll" they want to swap?

:)

Well if anyone wants to swap independent rock & folk artists, lemme know. I don't generally swap big label stuff. Sounds like a virtual swapmeet would be fun though.
