South Carolina Meetup July 22, 2003 12:16 AM Subscribe
Jealous of all of the lovely social events planned for the near future, I cautiously ask: Am I the only South Eastern Mefite? Anyone in South Carolina? Want to get together and prove the stereotypes by eating a pig raw while firing guns in the air, or more preferrably disproving them all by drinking something other than King Cobra and conversing intellectually? [more inside]
What's King Cobra? Sounds dee-lish!

Atlanta here. Okay, actually Roswell, which is a northern suburb... Anyway. I would be all over an Atlanta-based MeFiFest.
And I know there are more of us out there.

If you wanted stereotypical, wouldn't you barbeque the pig?

Hm. So it looks like Georgia would be the easiest. Atlanta? Smaller town, like Athens or something? Locations? Day preference?
Stav: King Cobra. It's kind of like drinking Hell, if Hell tasted like urine and donkey-kicked you in the head.

I'm in Chattanooga and there are probably about three others in this area. As far as BBQ, either hit "Swallow in the Hollow" near ATL or Master Blasters in Chattanooga.

I'm moving to Athens in a week (my apartment is next door to Tasty World!); I also vote for Athens or a suburb of ATL off of I-85 (easier for our NC & SC friends to get to).

I'm tied up on that date, but I do live in the Old North State.

Chamblee, GA: the Ethnic Rainbow Ghetto of the South. - unofficially christened Chambodia about two decades ago. Great place to shop too.
Jennak, are you moving to Athens on purpose? If so start barking. :) Athens isn't that easy to get to off the interstate. My personal vote would be somewhere in Atlanta like the Euclid Avenue Yacht Club in Little Five or the Earl in East Atlanta Village. But if you want something right off I-85 that would be Fuzzy's on North Druid Hills Road which is on the outskirts of Chambodia. It's been there since the 70's and the owner is a former Bulldog and proud of it. He serves good atmosphere, food, and strong beverages. However the smokey air could kill you.
