I'd really like to go to a meet-up, but DFW is a little far for me. Any Austinites planning to drive up? Or could someday, perhaps, we have an Austin meet-up?

FWIW, EB, if it makes the difference, you can crash at my place. I live alone, who cares? You just have to be out at 8-ish in the AM.

We're setting up a new colocated facility in Dallas.

It was scheduled for this weekend.

Today I got an email that said we're rescheduling for the last weekend in May.

I blame...ColdChef. Just because.

i was up at the old monk last week i believe, nice place. st. petes is good too, also angry dog. I would suggest a bar like the tini bar or the down bar, but i'm not old enough to drink. I'm also really socially inept so i doubt i would be at a meetup anyway.

I'm all for an Austin meetup, EB. I think the last word was the Saxon Pub to see a fellow mefite perform there, but I don't think we ever got past idle speculation... is it worth starting another meta thread about it, or do you think Dallas is close enough to pique the interest of Austinites?

Majcher: there are a decent number of us, isn't there? I, myself, really can't go up to Dallas unless I hop a ride with someone else; and, even then, maybe not. (Thanks, Ufez, for the generous offer!) Are there many MeFites in San Antonio? It's such a big city, and close enough to Austin for a combined meetup. Anyway, I've been watching (as long as I've been lurking) for an Austin meetup and I've been puzzled why there hasn't been one.

Yeah, I'm in for the Old Monk. Bringing the digital camera and a sketchpad for writing obscene messages to people who aren't there. ;) Wish I'd thought to buy my metafilter shirt in time, but I'll be the short loud one, in black, drinking Killians and poking SMU boys with a stick.

As an aside, trondant...that's just wrong...but funny. ;)

Good lord, man. I meant, "maybe Dallas is close enough to Austin that Austin mefites will check this thread for Austin meetup info" - not, "hey gang, let's all drive to Dallas! road trip!" I see that my wording was confusing, though.

Anyway. Here's the meetup thread. I'll be at the Saxon Pub at the appointed time and date, to see these guys and have a shiner or three with whoever shows up.

place is pretty nice, cozy (read: fucking small) . although the last time i was in there they started showing old school animated porn and i got kind of freaked out.
