Obits Callout July 1, 2001 7:23 PM   Subscribe

Welcome to meta-obit.com. I know we've sort of covered this recently, but this is getting ridiculous.

The truly annoying part? After a few death posts, someone inevitably chimes in with the "death in threes" bullshit.

Kittens. I want kittens. And on Tuesday, ice cream.

I think that we should still report cat deaths, though. For bryanboyer's sake.

Praise be to the fallen weblogger kitties.

Fooljay: that is beautiful. Thank you for making me laugh on a dreary Monday.

Oh, that was precious. Proving conclusively that dead kittens are more fun than dead puppies.

Judges' scores on fooljay's "bionic ghost kitty":

9.9 | 10 | 9.8 | 9.9 | 9.3 (East German) | 10 | 10 | 9.9

Very, very nice.

You think I'm so, so sorry. But I'm not. It was all a lie.

Remember the original point of this thread? Well I'd just like to voice my agreement (cos I'm crazy like that). I know I can just ignore the frontpage posts in question but I have an irrational fear that this trend is going to turn into a MeFi habit and we'll soon be swamped with death notices.

And shouldn't that kitty be in an early episode of Star Trek: TNG? Looks to be doing about warp 9.3.

That's a good point, MUD. I think users (especially new users) get a little nervous about what is "OK" to post on the front page. Obits, it would appear from recent posts, are "OK".

But, as Homer would say, "Eh...whattayagonnado?"
