The DNS entry is set up to route anything followed by ".metafilter.com" to Matt's server. In turn, Matt's server is set up to point "metatalk.metafilter.com" to this special site and by default any other requests return what's found at "www.metafilter.com".

How about all.your.bases.are.belong.to.us.metafilter.com? I found that one on google and have been usig it for a while :)

It's a simple DNS hack to point *.domain-name.com at a single IP address.

I'm using Internet Explorer on the Mac, and its CSS is generally pretty good.
I turned on scripting error alerts (usually leave them turned off) and got an "invalid procedure call or argument" alert in line 409. Looks like the menu scripts don't like IE/Mac or vice versa.
