Does anyone want my account? December 15, 2004 1:31 PM   Subscribe

I never use this name/account, so I was wondering if anyone was interested in taking it over...

Sure - I can give it to a friend. Email me.

Wait! Wait! Let's have a contest!
We can award it to one of the new kids, so they can lord it over the rest of us!

(Well, most of the rest of us.)

LOL. I'm up for whatever.

keep it wondergirl. let it be a silent account but don't give it away. it's just wrong.

Dude, gross. They're totally brother and sister.

I want it!

I've always wanted to be wondergirl, but they never made the Underoos big enough for me, so I had to raid my sister's...

Uh, never mind. Forget I mentioned this, will you?

I registered this name before there was a $5 paypal contribution needed...

If that becomes an issue, I'll cover the $5.

And as to wonderboy... I'm keeping quiet on that. ;)

dabitch, you really think I should keep it?
posted by wondergirl at 2:03 PM on December 15, 2004

I think you should keep it too. Maybe pass it on to your children. It'll be worth a ton of money by then!

Auction it on eBay, and then make an FPP about it!!!

No, actually I have no suggestions. But on a related note...
posted by soyjoy at 2:11 PM on December 15, 2004

I second the 'save it' motion. People who want a login can now PayPal $5 to get one. Also, there's likely to be a lot of confusion from people seeing n00b postings from a #10 000. If you really don't want it at all anymore, just ask #1 to delete it.

Actually, I would think you don't have the right to transfer it. Why would you think you do?

yeah wondergirl, what if you wanna come back in and just kick yourself giving away a low username when the n00bs have 57689!

user# - I meant number!

Frankly, is "wondergirl" such an incredible username that people are kicking themselves that it's taken?

If so, let me suggest "wonder_girl" and "x_wondergirl_x" to those who are desperate to advertise themselves as wonderful.

Oh, yeah -- terrible idea, wondergirl. Usernames are not supposed to be swapped around like sweaters. If you're not using it... don't use it. What's the problem?

That would be a funny trick, wondergirl.

Even with his username statement the math doesn't add.

Please, Patrick, stop bitching. Ignore it. Take a break from all things *.metafilter. Work your way through old posts since that is your idea of the good old days.

I'm just sayin'

I totally forgot about that rule where you can't read the site unless you're a member. ROFL. Thanks!

Also, I never said there were a good ol' days. I actually said that the copper age would suffice. Plus, it's hardly the "golden age" problem when I'm talking about, what, three fucking weeks ago?

I just don't see how Matt can be such a hardcore moderator of the grey for four years or so (I've had a number of off-topic comments deleted, as I know others have, and lame threads have been axed so many times it's not even funny), then get all hardcore deleting on political threads after Nov 2., but after new members join we have to put up with like, seriously, ten stupid threads in here every day?

At the very least I'll feel very free to ridicule the sheer amount of inanity. You can complain about it every time I do, though, if you really want to, Olen (did that make you more likely to believe me? ;P)

If I tried to point out every time you complained, (seriously, 1215 comments to MetaTalk?), I couldn't possibly keep up, Pat. My point is that you have options. Options like not pissing in every thread you deem unworthy. I don't disagree with most of your points. Carry on. Piss away.

and for cake's sake everyone, please stop talking about user numbers. you all know user number has no bearing on maturity or post quality, just as "time spent lurking" on metafilter obviously has no bearing on post quality.

posted by soyjoy at 8:20 AM on December 16, 2004

I'd advise you to do the opposite of what it is that nthdegx advises. He originally advised you to do the opposite of whatever the majority advise, but then so many people agreed with his advice that now he is the actual majority, and so in order to follow his advice to ignore the majority and do the opposite, you would have to ignore his advice and do the opposite. Basically what I'm saying is:

Wondergirl, I think you should do the opposite of what the majority think.
posted by iconomy at 9:14 AM on December 16, 2004

I think iconomy is completely wrong, and you should do the exact opposite of whatever iconomy instructs you to do.

Wondergirl: Don't pay attention to soyjoy it will only end in embarrassment. Ask people to email you a number between 1 and 500 closest one wins.
posted by Keyser Soze at 10:25 AM on December 16, 2004

The closest one to 500? That's no contest!

No contest at all!

Now, a clever woman would take the advice of soyjoy, because she would know that only a great fool would take what she was given. You are not a great fool, so you can clearly not follow the advice from Keyser Soze. But he must have known you were not a great fool; he would have counted on it, so you can clearly not choose to take the advice offered by soyjoy....
