Any of the MeFi Librarian Posse going to ALA this month? Boston/Somerville/Cambridge Mefi Meetup: Friday January 14 at The Burren in Davis Square in Somerville 7:30-ish. I'll be down from Vermont and robocop is bleeding says he'll be there.
Ryvan, if it's MeFi Librarians only, I say we hold a counter non-Librarian meetup, coincidently to be held at the Burren in Davis Square around 7:30pm in January 14th. ;-)

Maybe us non-librarians can sit at tables around the librarians and not say anything, or maybe we'll just have a non-librarian meetup across the street! Ha!

Love to, but it's a long way, and I'm still only an apprentice.

Yeah it's for everyone, there's just a national library conference/meeting going on in Boston that weekend so I thought more MeFites might be in town than usual. Anyone who wants to make a pre-drinking meal plan, feel free. I'll be rolling in to town right at 7:30 so I'd have to miss it.

Aren't librarians notorious for their wild, wicked parties? Be careful, MeFolk!

Naw, Blake, all the really cool library folk go to Access.
Heaviest drinking convention ever in Detroit was ALA. You've got to wonder when your people outdrink the Baptists.
I won't be along. Gave up on ALA years ago. Hope you all have a great time. Boston is a wonderful city.

Well hell, I live not too far from the Burren and I'd love to come, but it's the worst possible day for me. Maybe next time.

Last time Banjo and I brought the rabbits to The Burren, they started a big fight with some of the local townie bunnies. So it's prolly best that Grendel and Robocop sit this one out.
But considering that The Burren is just a leap out a window and a roll down the bike path, we'll be there!

I'd go if I weren't horribly disfigured and weigh 600 pounds. Also, I'm a non-drinker and Irish music makes me break out in hives. And I had a bad experience with a librarian once that's left me bitter and angry at the entire profession. But otherwise I'd be there.

Seriously, is this a librarians-only jamboree or are we mere patrons welcome too? I was a Library Assistant VI once and one of the few non-MLS catalogers allowed to do original cataloging on OCLC, if that affects the decision at all.

It's for anyone who wants to come. The possibility of non-Bostonian librarians in town for ALA is just icing on the cake!

I'll probably be bringing my sister from a rival craigslist tribe, feel free to bring librarian and non-librarian friends and/or family. I'll post a reminder closer to the date.

If it's not all librarians, I will come too. I was going to say "I will be the woman with short spiky streaked hair and cat glasses" but I realize that that will probably describe most of those with XX chromosomes in the bar. Maybe I will just wear a red carnation pinned to the empty sleeve of my jacket.

I love the burren, and used to go there all the time. Sadly, I moved away.
However, my mom is going to be at the ALA conference (seriously) so if you see here, take her with you and buy her a drink. She's five feet tall and about 60.

the possibility of creating a MetaFilter Fighting Bunnies team boggles the mind. it is almost a recipe for world domination.

just like quonsar, where's the problem.

I like librarians - especially ones with glasses. Also, I like beers at the Burren. It's a no-brainer, really.
