Why was my comment deleted January 28, 2005 2:37 PMSubscribe
Did I forget to hit "post" or was my comment deleted from this topic and if so, why? posted by Juicylicious to Etiquette/Policy at 2:37 PM (32 comments total)
That I couldn't watch the clip earlier and now it's been pulled and did anyone have a link to it. posted by Juicylicious at 2:52 PM on January 28, 2005

See, now we're all getting paranoid. posted by CunningLinguist at 3:17 PM on January 28, 2005
Spooky. Because I remember when I selected 'my comments' from the dropbox, that thread had 54 comments listed. A couple of minutes later, it listed 53 comments. So, I doubled checked immediately. The discrepancy remained. posted by Gyan at 3:26 PM on January 28, 2005
To clarify, at both times, the discrepancy was between the display on the front page and 'my comments' filter. posted by Gyan at 3:28 PM on January 28, 2005
The comment was deleted because that was a SHITTY thing to say and you should be ashamed of yourself. This place would be a whole lot better off without bullshit comments like that. Grow up dude. posted by Witty at 5:51 PM on January 28, 2005
C'mon, Witty...we've all made mistakes here, and I don't think that because of just one comment (even one like THAT) we should be talking about banning Juicylicious. Have a little compassion. Maybe he/she was having a really bad day or something. I'm not trying to justify that kind of behavior...but until it becomes a definite pattern...well, I say we give them a second chance. posted by rushmc at 6:12 PM on January 28, 2005

Ban him! Actually, I deleted that comment. You can't use 'bucket of cocks' that many times in one sentence, and not get deleted. Sorry, but standards must be kept. posted by graventy at 6:26 PM on January 28, 2005
I'm tired of being your scapegoat. posted by Juicylicious at 7:37 PM on January 28, 2005
You have a point rushmc. Perhaps I jumped the gun there. We've all seen this kind of thing blow up many times in the past. I just didn't want to see it happen again. So, I apologize for being so aggressive.
My advice Juicylicious... just take an extra 30 seconds to think before forgetting to hit post. That's all. I normally enjoy your contributions to this community, but I found that one particular comment completely uncalled for. Hopefully, as rushmc suggests, this doesn't become a pattern. Peace! posted by Witty at 7:40 PM on January 28, 2005
Did the comment I made asking whether or not my comment got deleted, get deleted? posted by euphorb at 7:45 PM on January 28, 2005

Sigh. Deleted comments with no marker whatsoever left behind is just a bad interface. How many different ways does it need to be demonstrated? posted by Armitage Shanks at 8:55 PM on January 28, 2005
Comments have been deleted forever; I think this is the first post by someone who didn't know whether they posted or not. Sometimes you can't blame the interface. posted by smackfu at 9:32 PM on January 28, 2005
If deleted comments left something behind, nobody would ever have to ask if their comment was deleted (which often happens). posted by Armitage Shanks at 9:34 PM on January 28, 2005
