I used the Google Search and it returned all these weird metafilter variants instead of the post I was looking for. bukake.metafilter.com? touchstevesnuts.metafilter.com?

Okay, so I understand about half-way now. Why are there so many of them? Has Matt created a whole slew of them, or do other people have this ability? Will they all allow you to access the entire site? Am I just being thick as a brick?

Basically, I think anything.metafilter.com will work. If so, it's just a matter of someone constructing a link to a page using a different subdomain to get the subdomain into Google. I imagine that link could be on or offsite.
