Thank you for fabulously detailed AskMe answers March 2, 2005 3:08 PM   Subscribe

Just a big shout out of thanks to all the members, even FFF who, in so much detail and depth, discussed my lighting issues earlier in the week. I'm not sure why, but Metafilter attracts and retains an amazingly smart, broad base-of-knowledge group of people. Truly remarkable.

I'll use this thread to thank everybody who's helped me in the past with my totally obscure technical questions! You are all my geek heroes!

And, perhaps the coolest thing is that I never really got an answer (although some leads); the discussions are just so amazingly dense (in a good way).

I will also use this thread to gave a big shout out to everyone who helped me get my car started back in Jan. Truly a life saver!

If this is the Official Thank People For Answering Shit thread then:

Thanks to everyone who's answered, or tried to answer one of my Ask.MeFi questions. And, in case you're interested: the skin tag is still there ('cause I'm a big baby); we still think we know the girl in Alanis' video; we're still shy in the bathroom; I no longer argue grammar with my friends (whilst drunk); I love that cartoon; I know own as much of Cibo Matto's music as I can; my keyboard's finally on its way to Spain, tax-free; and the chilli was perfect!. Ta.

My flight with toddler to and from LA (and the bits in between) went like a dream, thanks to the people who gave me advice. Thank you everyone.

Why "even FFF"? Am I supposed to not answer questions that you ask? Or was my answer so completely useless that it deserves special recognition?

"even FFF"

classic...

five fresh fish, I think that ParisParamus is thanking you for using common courtesy--which the rest of us commonly use--in ask metafilter because he's surprised that while you disagree about everything else, you're still willing to help him with a problem.

It'd be nice if he learned from this experience, really.

PP, why don't you remember this more when you're spouting off antagonist b.s. in the blue?

I'm glad you brought this from the green to the grey, just so I could knock out a few short/snappy/snarky/silly one-liners, like...

So ParisParamus has finally seen the light!

Now we know how many MeFites it takes to screw in a light bulb!

"Lighting issues?" What's that? The Lamp-of-the-Month Club?

Sounds like too General an Electric question for AskMe... (Get it? General Electric? I kill me!!!)

just trying to keep it light... (get it? light?)

Maybe it's like Even the Liberal New Republic.

wendell, I think you should have thrown in something about the 'MeFi Illuminati".

Yeah, you'd think I'd remember the secret society I've been thrown out of three times... oops... make that four...

I agree that it is great and all - the tech geek love in thing that is - but I wish people would stick with the discussions a little longer.

Also, marking questions as answered is fine and all, but... The lighting/colour question, and the FM radio in tunnels question have been answered very well. In each case you have to read the whole thread to figure out the answer, no single comment is deserving of the big check mark. That seems like a problem...
Okay, not really a problem. I think I'll shut up now.

interrobang, yes about FFF.

Actually, the question may have been answered, but I don't know yet, since I haven't gone light shopping.

How about a Mefi Meetup at Lighting by Gregory, a la 2600 reunion behind the payphones (do they still do that?)?

I'm surprised you're surprised, PP. Shall we understand that to mean that you, in a similar situation, would refuse to help me?

I will freely admit to not replying to some ask me threads if they've been started by people I think are buttheads. I figure I don't need to help them, and that there are plenty of other buttheads who will take care of them if I won't.

Uhhhh... huh huh. He said figure. (Butthead)

FFF, I'm not suggesting that at all. But I do think, for most people, it takes a little extra to respond to help someone with which one is not completely in love. Thanks--seriously.
