In order to jam up MeTa as well as MeFi -- and to be insensitive and unpleasant -- any guesses or thoughts on how long it will be before "normal" operations resume?

...I know that "nothing will ever be the same," but try being Jay Leno thinking about the first Tonight Show that's going to air after all this...

My guess: Thanksgiving.

Do we really want to return to 'normal'? Can we really ever regain the false sense of security we had on Monday morning.

Returning to normal would be insulting to the thousands who died or suffered on 911.

To define normal, you should first consider that MetaFilter consists of what most of it's members want to discuss. Although there have been threads on other topics, the site is being used now to relay as much information about what this country has discovered and is about to do. These are trying times, and it probably won't go back to what it was before until after many of the standing issues are resolved, which as I mentioned before may take a very long time. The other possibility is that the discussions would be curbed to another location if it seen by Matt as a bandwidth saver. Although as it is now, I don't think is a big concern as not many people are complaining.

Btw, when was MeFi normal? ;-)

Sorry, my post assumed 'return to normal' on a more global level -- not MeFi specifically.

MeFi was "normal"?

Skallas, where do you live? I wanna give you a cookie. Or buy you a drink. Your choice.
