Could we have comments on the flag page? June 26, 2005 5:45 AM Subscribe
This post about readings for a wedding has great responses, and links to other threads with great responses (disclaimer: I responded to one of them.) I flagged the link as Other, expecting to be able to comment, but sadly, there is no comment capability. Please administrator, consider granting this pony, "comments on the flag page," if it is not too large and cumbersome.
There is a "fantastic post/comment" flag, which sounds like it would have been more appropriate than "other".

While we're on the subject, could somebody please point me to an explanation as to what the different flags mean? I've only ever tried to flag two items — one of which was the recent "How do I make meth?" post — but both times, I didn't know what to select.
Specifically, what's the difference between offensive, noise, and breaks the guidelines? Yes, yes: I can tell that goatse is offensive, but other cases are not as clear but. And which guidelines are we talking about, anyhow? Is there someplace I can view these?
I'm not trying to be snarky here; I'm generally confused about how to flag correctly. I think both times I've flagged something, I've just picked "other" on the assumption that Matt or Jess would figure out why I flagged when they looked at the link.

jd, don't sweat it, there's no way to flag incorrectly except for flagging random stuff that is harmless. Just pick one reason and I'll see it. I basically read them as "good" "bad" or "double post".
I should probably streamline the three "bad" options into one.

I see offensive as something insulting, personal, totally filthy, and/or ...well, offensive, and noise is derailing, and breaks guidelines is i guess a doublepost or something. (i've never used breaks guidelines so far)
and what kenko said--fantastic post/comment would have been the best option, theora.

I feel bad that I missed the other threads - I searched for tags "wedding" and "marriage", but I got good readings out of all the threads, including this one. Thanks again to all who responded.

On the other hand, what's the reason for "other" to exist, if you can't specify what you mean? Shouldn't the entry be removed from the list?
