I really enjoyed the BlogStop FPP.

Edible Energy is Miguel's sockpuppet.

In no particular order:
- We have cameras
- Unsecured webcams
- Blogstop
- ...and two others I don't have the patience to track down. I tend to like the chattier threads.

unsecured webcams is tops for me. I spent a night looking through all the cameras instead of sleeping.

It's been a while, so I'll trot this out again. Please don't use the shorthand "FPP" for Front Page Posts. It's exclusionary and unnecessary.

And most of Miguel's posts. : >

You're kidding, right?

Happy to amuse. Still not kidding.

And as it's been a while, I will reassert my intention to use "FPP" whenever referring to a Front Page Post rather than type the phrase out once again. The suggestion of "thread" as a substitute is useless, since "thread" describes the thread. "FPP" describes the post.

tvsheriff/coldplay "world of evil"
+
the Gary Busey / George Bush flash thingy

...which I think was posted in one FPP by XQUZYHPR, but I can't seem to find it.

TWO classics, esp. the "world of evil" in ONE!

Some more recent fav's:
- Songs in list form
- Post rock (great discussion)
- The 'game' (damn!)
- "Superman is a dick" (check it out - it has been updated)

Happy to amuse. Still not kidding.

I used to use 'FPP' too, and militated a bit for it early on as a self-evident timesaver, but once Matt had made it clear why he hates (or hated) it, I found myself agreeing with him, and stopped.

I invite our fresher compatriots, as an exercise in polishing their MeFiSkillSet, to hunt down the comment in question. If they're so inclined.

I'm glad to see others really appreciated my FPP about the game.

FPP LOVES CAPS LOCK
posted by Rothko at 12:59 AM on July 22, 2005

Officially, there's a "one hour" (or half hour, or whatever) grace period after someone informs you about losing the game. I consider blasdelf's mention of his FPP to be a mention of the game (which clearly required him to think of the game). Thus, you were in the clear, rhiannon.

Superman is a Dick is definately in the top-5 for me.

I guess it's more of a guilty pleasure, because they're not actually high-quality FPPs, but I really enjoy the "let's trash Wal-mart" threads.
posted by JanetLand at 8:54 AM on July 22, 2005

Oh, and the Blair Hornstine stuff was great fun, too.
posted by JanetLand at 8:55 AM on July 22, 2005

Was that the "valedictorian" thread? That was a lot of fun.

Superman is a Dick is one I shared a whole lot.

Re: FPP

How 'bout we go with the Associated Press style? Spelled out on first reference, acronym thereafter. Ex., "That front page post about CNN's lead story sucked. Can't we keep FPPs to the best of the web?"

Or we could put the acronym in parentheses after the full phrase. Ex., "We need more front page posts (FPPs) about cheese."
posted by me3dia at 10:24 AM on July 22, 2005

Or we could just preface every comment with an explanation:
HAY IN THIS COMMENT WHEN I SAY FPP I MEANT FRONT PAGE POST OK

I strongly disagree with the wording of this FPP, as the overuse of the letter "e" is clearly an insult towards [...]
posted by goober at 12:42 AM PST on July 32
Or we could, you know, just not use the term at all.
posted by DrJohnEvans at 12:21 PM on July 22, 2005

I understand how writing "FPP" could be frowned upon as exclusionary, but really, it's the 3rd result on Google for "FPP Metafilter."

If you don't care enough about what the acronym means to type two words into google, then chances are that you're not too interested.

Anyways, I love CAPS LOCK DAY! as well. And the link to Kitundu. And all the links to Del.icio.us, which was the most useful post IMHO.
