Did you miss the thread (still on the front page of MetaTalk) where this is currently being discussed?
posted by jonson at 11:33 AM on February 15, 2006

Wow. That explains why I felt like I was being followed all morning.

But neat! Thanks, Matt.

yes :(

Yuck. So now it is even easier for certain people to follow me around and issue an insult or snark after every vaguely political post I make.

It's not keen now. It's swell, at best. It'll be keen when I can get an "all your contacts' posts" RSS feed. It'll be keener when I can get a single "all contacts' posts on all subsites" feed. It'll be keenest when I can get the same for comments.

Yeah, I'm needy.

But I did sign up for tog's feed because she is dreamy.

Stick to art and flash game sites, dios.
posted by crunchland at 12:47 PM on February 15, 2006

OMG I used the awesome-o user-based RSS feed to follow dios and I see he is snarking in here! I SNARK YOUR FACE, DIOS!!! snarksnarksnark.

Sorry. Someone had to. This feature comes just in time for these troll fanboys, eh?

And by "troll fanboys" I mean "fanboys of a troll", not that all 96 posts in that thread are from trolls.

Self-policing gets a brand new weapon in the war on intellectual dishonesty, hurrah!

And the loyalists will not have to wander around so much looking for their liege.

twiggy, nicely done. You got me grinning!

I have been waiting for this!

Poor Dios. A perfectly good cross, but he's still looking for someone to give him a leg up onto it.

Why is everyone mad about the cups?
posted by Plutor at 1:12 PM on February 15, 2006

This is going to get me shot (or maybe not, liberals don't like guns) but I'm going to suscribe to Dios and PP's feeds, because they are interesting people.

So there.

Some folks can even turn a metatalk thread about new features into a thread about themselves.

doesn't anyone read the sidebar? this is there too.
posted by jessamyn (staff) at 1:47 PM on February 15, 2006

The feeds are for posts, not comments at the moment, so if you subscribe to people you don't like, chances are, you probably won't see many front page posts from them (people seem to earn their glory in comments)

Your favorite mefite sucks.
posted by bardic at 1:55 PM on February 15, 2006

I'm honestly surprised neither of you have deleted this. The fact that it got to 21 comments shocks and saddens me.

jessamyn: I usually enjoy mefi through RSS feeds, so no. Clearly we need a sidebar rss feed to correct this.

Phew. What would be the point of tracking comments, other than in order to pop up and call them a tosser every time they spoke (or, rather less likely, to call them a sweetheart every time the spoke)?

Good to hear. And I hope it stays just posts.

On preview: what jack_mo said.

Cyberstalking, DUH.

Actually, some people on MeFi tend to be very level headed and insightful often enough that I might be interested in seeing their comments on things. I probably wouldn't use it super often, but it would be kind of nifty.

This is a pretty dumb counter-argument. Such behavior would result in bannination whether the stalker used the RSS feeds or, you know, the existing user pages that already list every comment.

I'd like to see per-user comment RSS feeds since some people regularly make insightful comments.

I'd like to see per-user comments feeds so I can include it on my SuperGlu page. If people are that concerned about "stalking", maybe they can have the option to turn their (hopefully coming soon) per-user comment feeds off.

I want my own comments. I couldn't care less about the rest of yours.

Don't think nobody saw you trying to push your cups agenda, Plutor. That will catch on over my rotting corpsified ashes.
