Layout suggestion for horozontal rules on AskMe August 3, 2006 12:53 PM Subscribe
Add a separator (horizontal line, blank line, whatever you deem appropriate) of some kind: (1) between answers in AskMeFi, and (2) between new and old questions on the front page. This would help break up the page a little more.
Because acclimation to a site that has worked well as is for like seven years would be more taxing for the userbase.

Did Matt post a Hey N00bs, got any hints to revamp the site layout? sign and I missed it?

There already is a blank line between answers in AskMeFi, right? Or have I just been smoking crack for the last three years?

Hey, at least davcoo cut out all that whining about ponies nonsense and flat out ordered mathowie to change the site.
I bet he's wearing leather chaps and elbow length surgical gloves.

2) between new and old questions on the front page
Old and new? Based on time? The day? The viewer? The questions are in chronological order, you know which ones are new: the ones at the top of the page.

Could this line be something like a flower garland to pretty up the place? I'll bet lots of Mefites would deem that appropriate.

Take your horizontal line and shove it straight up your ass.

I find the page delineations quite adequate, just as they are. Anything more would just be tarting up a Good Thing.

Could someone wash my car? I pissed off some magicians and they sent a flock of doves to shit all over it.

Can we give out awards for the funniest MeTa thread posted each day? Because this one wins hands down.
And yes, yeti's gif is the bee's knees.

Mathowie, you have got to save yeti's animated bar to pull out for next April Fools Day. I'll cry if you don't. I want every post separated with it...

Actually, it is a pretty good idea. The current front page, with a number of multi-paragraph posts (from people trying too hard to win the contest?), is fairly hard to read.

And yet, many of us seem to have no trouble.

I completely agree. I thought the posting box stripped out paragraph breaks? If it doesn't, it should.

Wasn't there a MeTa thread where someone suggested alternating the colors behind each successive FPP? That would get fun when one gets deleted, though.

We suggested it, mathowie tried it, everyone but mathowie hated it, so it went away.
I like goodnewsfortheinsane's line though. Except it keeps trying to give me a headache because it is almost-but-not-quite zigzagged on my laptop screen. It hurts my eyes.

Wow, I must have missed it. I don't think I would hate it, as long as the colors were subtle (like two shades of blue or something).
That crooked line is awesome.
