Fair play to him. I love the fact he 'fesses up that he's on here wasting time and avoiding work. That's exactly what I use MeFi for.

I don't know Dave, but I have to say I really like when the subject of a post finds out about it and pops in to defend themselves.

It's, Dave, man. Will you open up, I got the stuff with me.
What the hell? No, man, I am Dave, man. Will you...
Dave! D-A-V-E! Will you open up the goddam door!

I suggest we keep a close eye on him. He's only made one comment and his URL on his profile page is to a website promoting his commercial ventures. I smell a possible self-linker.
Nah, seriously though, I don't. I think it's cool that one of my fave Daily Show 'semi-regulars' popped in to clear up the record. Let's start a thread about Richard Clarke. It'd be way cool to have a MeFi level convo with that dude.

Assume the best in people instead of the worst, it's nicer that way.
A welcome new perspective.

I do know Dave, a little bit, and wondered if he might pop by and visit the thread. In fact I wondered if he might already be a Mefi member. He's the kind of guy who might.

Mr Gorman was the subject of a police investigation into possible terrorism-related activities. Is that the kind of person we want hanging around Metafilter?

Wow - I go to bed after posting and get up 8 hours later to find my thread has caused Dave Gorman to join Metafilter. I did wonder whether he might be a visitor to the site.

Dave Gorman is very cool. Hey BBC - any chance of repeating his Important Astrology Experiment? It's too good to be kept languishing in your archives.

"Welcome to Metafilter, Dave. Appearances to the contrary, it's not always about semi-cocked snarkery here. "
k, got the cabal back-up server memo but not the it's-not-always-about-semi-cocked-snarkery memo. Are there two distribution lists? If so, which am I on?

Dave is good & funny although I blame Tony Hawks (NOT Hawk) for inspiring all of these 'stupid boy projects'*. :-)
