Double-Post Culprits October 2, 2006 8:49 AM   Subscribe

Is there a list somewhere out there of the users with the most double posts to their name? Or the highest ratio of doubles to legitimate posts?

No, but that sounds like a great Project!

No there isn't, because I don't have "double post" anywhere in the data model of the mefi database.

So the deletion reason would be the only place that mentions the post is a double? Could the data be extracted that way? (Not that I want it, I'm just wondering. I think it'd be a cool thing to see.)

If only this guy were still around. I bet he would know.

I would bet the house on the fact that Postroad has the most deletions over all. But specifically double posts? I don't think there would be any way to figure it out unless you had some OCD type person go back and catalog it.

.... Some one call cortex.

There's a song in there somewhere.

It would be possible for someone clever to scrape the site for pages containing the "This post was deleted for the following reason" bit and the words "previous", "previously", "double", "old" etc., and pull out the "posted by" wouldn't it?

You'd probably also want to check for reasons with URLs and "last week" and "yesterday" and the like. Or comments with the words. You could have a spam-assassin-like scoring algorithm. And then you could go through and manually remove any false positives. It'd only end up being a couple thousand, total, probably.

I don't think there's a need to keep track of double posts or comments.

You're in the dog house, mister. And more to the point, I'd rather apply my OCD skills to the database dump—much more efficient.

Any movement there, Matt?

My ratio is pretty high. 2 doubles, 4 legitimate posts. Sad.

I would like to see the statistics on most deleted posts per user, so I could give them a fools gold star. Aha!

as much as I'd like to bet against him, win, kick him out and give the house away for free to the ACLU, I agree with dios, Postroad's deletion rate is as appalling as his spelling. but to be fair, he's not as bad as he once was -- I remember that three years ago, give or take, for a few months Postroad seemed barely capable of posting something that didn't get deleted, it was like fish in a barrel. I guess Matt e-mailed him or something, because it got much better. he's not posting Debka links anymore, for example

I've posted more doubles than I care to admit.

I just posted a double, which is why this was on my mind. Of course, once this information is out in the wild, I am sure people will start competing to post as many doubles as they can.

Christ, I hope not. I'd look like even more of a jackass.

I've never made a double post. All of my front page posts are perfectly formed gems, free from flaw.

I'd like to see a comments posted to comments favorited ratio. That could reveal something about the snarkiest of us, perhaps.

I believe I'm at about 20%. And I always search. It's true.

Often it's the snarkiest comments that get favorited, though, rather than the most insightful....

doubles? ... we ain't no fuckin' doubles!

dersins, yeah that's what I'm saying. The higher the ratio the snarkier the bastard.

dersins, yeah that's what I'm saying.

Clearly I misinterpreted.

That's what I get for being a fucking idiot.

And drunk.

Oh, wait. I'm not drunk. Just a fucking idiot.

The guy with the MOST double posts to his name? I'm pretty sure it's me.

Also: I'm one "favorite" away from 700 different comment/posts of mine being favorited. Who wants to be lucky #700??? Next user to favorite me gets a free shoutout from me @ the next meetup!

growabrain, that is all shades of NSFW. Although this, while still NSFW, is also disturbingly sublime.

Ah, goodshit. I got a link from them, once. Very surreal to follow that out of your referrer logs.
