Strip extraneous line breaks at the end of posts.
No! I will die to protect my right to extraneous line breaks! Without extraneous line breaks, our very way of life will be threatened!
Actually that's a pretty good idea....

If I see a post line break I don't like, I just don't read it.

I do it on metafilter, but not here. I really should just add that simple code to do it.

I do it on metafilter, but not here. Me too! (I mean, from now on, now that I know the rule) P.S. All my line breaks are due to excessive paragraphing while editing. I now make a point of sucking in my "posted by" tag with the delete key before I post, so that there's no ridiculous, Italian-Opera-style spacing. On the other hand, on MetaFilter I go wild, I tell ya!

Augh! You mean I can't hide comments in posts? Tragedy!
But probably also a good idea, I suppose.

Vigorous writing is concise. A sentence should contain no unnecessary words, a paragraph no unnecessary sentences, for the same reason that a drawing should have no unnecessary lines and a machine no unnecessary parts.

There are a lot of unnecessary parts in your average car. Someone should tell the enigneers that they're doing it all wrong.

And those headlight wipers. Still haven't figured those out. They must be a freak of evolution and will one day fade away like the sad coccyx, appendix, or left arm.
