Updated Slogans July 24, 2004 9:10 AM Subscribe
Metafilter: the plastic.com it's OK to like.
It seems like metafilter has had the same few slogans on the main page for a long time. People always post funny suggestions for mefi taglines in the the threads, but they're never adopted.
My request: Matt, geton the ball and and some new taglines.

This should go well.
Unasked for advice:
Matt, are you planning on adding new taglines anytime soon? dg's collected some good ones, and that "the plastic.com it's ok to like" is getting a little old sounds much better than Matt, get on the ball and some new taglines.

Have you ever been around someone who's clinically manic? They are freaky. Freaky, I tells ya. When I was hospitalized for depression, there were (at two different times) two different very manic people there. This was right at the height of the dot.com bubble, and one guy worked for a startup and was expecting to get rich (as so many people expected and so few did). One morning, he went out and bought five cars. His family had him involuntarily committed. Being that I was another dot.com guy, he liked to talk to me. He made me tired. And he was delusional, but in a strange way. Then there was the young woman who was manic. She was fascinated with my watch. She showed everyone who wandered by my watch. And she also talked incessantly.
The point is, mania really isn't funny. Okay, actually, it kinda is funny. But it's also scary and dangerous. These people do scary things. Supposedly, the manic stage of severe manic-depression is much more dangerous (that is, people are most likely to get hurt or kill themselves) when they're manic than when they're depressive.
So, you know, I'm just doing my part in the mental health education front. As you were.
