the genesis for this question is my opinion of the 'Summit of the Americas protest thread'. i nominate it for most intelligent thread. good discussion. different sides. give and take. real dialogue. little name-calling. kudos to all of you who particpated integrally.

At the moment I'd have to say Neale's MegaThread which was brought to my attention over here. But my opinion on this probably changes at least daily. There's a lot of good stuff out there.

I don't think I can single-out any one thread as the greatest ever. My particular love of MeFi is the fact that whenever tech events occur, such as Deepleap closing doors, Blogger starts Server Fund etc, there's always the insiders present updating us with facts and setting the record straight. How many other companies have PR where you feel like you know the CEO as a friend, or you know fellow-users really well. I think MeFi is an awesome community, and as above, my opinion on great threads will probably be different tomorrow!

Yes I'd back that vote, Sean. An interesting read.

I was thinking that myself. "Best thread ever."
