Can metafilter members please email individual users with factual corrections that do NOT pertain to the discussion at hand? I'm tired of clutter, and at times, public rudeness.

Examples? Am I guilty?

SpecialK, what you're really asking is for people not to be tactless, pedantic asses. And I'm sure the answer is no.

Paris, man, you've got a guilty conscience.

I wonder if we can have squelch buttons, so if enough users vote to "squelch" a person, their rude and troll-like comments would be blocked? justnobody and aaron come to mind, and that's just in one thread.

I think maybe we should just play like big kids and ignore the people we don't like.

Well, either that or filters so that individual users can block people they don't like - seems like a better solution to me than group "squelching".

I'd love to be able to squelch pompous, bald-faced liars like SpecialK, who post publicly that "I'll just say X and then we'll discuss this in private," and then turn around within seconds and make a giant scene about X in MetaTalk before the person can even read said email.

I'd also love to squelch those who actively search every thread for attacks against a certain person so they can post one-liner cheerleader posts in favor of those doing the attacking.

Even better, why not ban people who so love spreading hatred that they start MetaTalk threads for the express purpose of publicly humiliating those MeFites they don't like? Why is this even allowed, Matt?

Right. The people in charge of humiliating the users have been humiliated.

Oh, by the way pal, KAYCEE DOESN'T EXIST. How's that for a factual correction?

I say the black ball sucks. Egalitarian crapola. While aaron may be provocative, I'd rather have a full discussion than a circle jerk.
