[RSS PSA] Reminder to update your MetaFilter RSS feeds
Last month, an apparent error in Feedburner caused several of MeFi's legacy RSS feeds to not update for up to a week (at least in my popular feed reader, Feedly). The problem has been fixed -- for now. But it's an important reminder that the Feedburner platform is increasingly unreliable -- if it were ever shut down by Google, the thousands of readers who rely on those feeds to keep up with the site may lose contact without even realizing it. The good news is that the site has a new set of self-hosted feeds that should remain active no matter what Google does. So, if you read the site using an RSS reader, please take a moment to update your reader to the new feeds -- and check the related posts on MetaFilter and Ask MetaFilter for a list of posts you might have missed during the outage.
AskMe Dis-ad-biguation
Google ads on AskMe pages makes them very confusing to read (for non-members who see them). Is it possible to visually separate them a bit more from the content? Or move the ads below the "More Inside" content?
Shield askmes from google searches?
This is probably a stupid question but is there a way to shield anonymous AskMe questions from google searches? It's a medical question about a very sensitive family matter and I'd hate to have any family member EVER stumble upon all the background details of my inquiry.
My green direct line to YouTube / Google.
My recent AskMe question on YouTube / Google Chrome not playing nice got me talking directly with a "YouTube engineer here who works on, among other things, latency/developing world connections and HTML5." [more inside]

How do I get Google search instead of built-in search on Ask MeFi? [more inside]
Better Google searching for MeFi?
Has Google changed/improved the way it indexes Metafilter? When looking up answers for some recent AskMe questions, I've been surprised to see the questions themselves show up in Google's search results. [more inside]
How do they do that?
A few hours ago I posted a question at ask.metafilter.com. An hour later nobody's answered so I resume my Googling for an answer. Number three in the list of results is my very question! And it's on a different site! I'm shocked Google updates its index so fast, but, more than that, why is my question on a different site?
AskMe in google search results.
So, is anybody else noticing that askme is showing up more often in google searches now that the title is in the URL? It seems like any kind of obscure search I do now has ask metafilter entry somewhere in the top 5.
AskMe becoming New Google
and to the google guy--I was buzzed and didn't care too google this... Seems like a dangerous precedent, or is askme the new google?

Okay I get why my question was deleted. Would it be okay to repost it as 'are overseas webhosts protected from US Copyright enforcers?'
How do you STILL not know the answer?
Am I dense? Why is this question about liquids on planes appropriate for ask metafilter when the answer had already been posted on practically every major English language news site in the world before the question was asked? And was being broadcast on TV and radio? And was just pretty much inescapable for anyone who actually wanted to find the answer?
Should this have been googled?
Is this jerky?

A question (about a sore nose) should have been answered by your mother/google.
I've just read the worst ask.me of all time and the risk of devaluing the site is irritating me to hell. I seem to remember a suggestion that maybe I should make use of google - does that sound like a reasonable soultion?
Does googling ask.metafilter.com get the archives?
Does googling ask.metafilter.com get the archives? I was gearing up to chime in about visiting Moab for i_cola, when I had a moment of deja vu. The domain restricted search turned up only two non-results... but searching on my MetaTalk comment history broght me what I was looking for.
